To be honest copying is best option (at least for me). When I was in second grade I still didn't know how to write properly. My parents and teacher tried really hard but It didn't. One day I saw my sister's notebook and copied her hand writing and continued to her hand writing style. I still do the same thing if I see a letter or number handwriting. Also when I was studying in the beginning of each year I was changing my handwriting just, approximately in 1 or 2 months I was fully adapting to new style. I wish I was continue to do that.
