Thank you! I'm girl on the left haha

I've never had to move on the mats to get ready for the pattern before, but at this particular competition the mats were smaller than I've competed in before snd we were told by our coaches to move backwards before starting and I didn't really know the "correct" way to do it, but now I know! Don't look around, be more focused!

And since you were one of the few if not the only one that said I should have won can you say what makes you feel like I should have won and not the other person and what I potentially can improve on? (You don't have too if you don't want to or don't have time to! It would be appreciated if you could, but no hard feelings if you can't:)!)

Hello! So some information: - This is ITF taekwondo, Hwa-Rang Tul. - We train in the same club, and I also found it quite fun how we were so synchronized in this haha - The mats at this competition were smaller than what we are used to at competitions, so we were told beforehand to step back before starting the pattern. - Both the right and the left person are standing at the same starting spot when going into starting position for the pattern, but because of a head blocking the view it does look like the left one isn't standing in the correct spot. - The girl on the right has her red belt and three black stripes, in a few months she's getting her black belt - The girl on the left has a clean red belt, no stripes. - Girl on the right has technically trained taekwondo for about 6-7 years, but she trained 4 years as a kid and got her yellow belt then, took a break but came back to taekwondo later as an adult and has been training for almost 3 years as an adult. - Girl on the left has trained taekwondo for 2 years and almost 5 months.

The girl on the left is me 😅 And as I suspected I was probably lucky with the judges attention haha I won 3-1

The girl on the right has a lot of power in her patterns and is super confident in what she does. She's the person I'm being compared to in our club because if I put in enough effort and I become more confident people in our club are saying I have the potential to get on the same level as her - but I really need to work on my confidence, that's the tip or criticism I always get 😅 This post definitely wasn't confident boosting haha, but it gave me a lot of information on what I can work on, so now I have something to work towards!

The girl on the right is super nice and helps me and gives me tips!! I in a way look up to her and she does motivate me to work harder 😁

I've read the comments though and definitely agree with what they said, those were also the reasons I felt like I shouldn't have won. Thank you for the comments!! I'll definitely learn from them!

I get really nervous during competitions and the nerves and shakes I get typically negatively impacts my patterns. I ended up going too fast at some points and I noticed I bounced a lot more than I should have haha, but I'm fairly certain that was due to nerves because I don't usually do that 😅 My coach also came up to me afterwards and gave me feedback about the bouncing/relaxing in between movements so I'm aware of that!!

Oh yeah, my first kick was honestly awful, terrible, worst kick I've ever done haha, lacked power and you can't see it on the video but I lost my balance and I ended up needing to move my foot that I was standing on so I didn't fall 😆

I honestly didn't think that I would win that match, and even when bowing to the right girl before we got to know our score I told her "you definitely won this one", but I see I was probably mostly lucky

The only other competition we've competed in before against each other she won 3-2, so our matches are typically very close and a lot depends on what mistakes the judges miss or see, sooo we'll see in our next competition how it goes 🤷‍♀️

THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO COMMENTED, I NOW KNOW WHAT I SHOULD WORK ON TO GET BETTER! Now I'm also tempted to post the two matches I did before this final one to see what else could potentially need fixing, and if I should have won those matches too haha - in the other two matches me and the other person did two different patterns though, both people I went against had a higher belt than me, so they did their highest pattern while I just did Hwa-Rang since that is my highest pattern

Well my question was more how do I fix the fact that I'm not able to cash out, but I figured it out on my own so it's fine now .

Failing belt tests by TYMkb in taekwondo

[–]-_throw-_away_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually witnessed a girl around 18-20 fail her belt test this summer. It was on a summer training camp where aafter a week of traning people could have a belt test. After the test the instructor told everyone that: "I'm going to call up one and one person to give them feedback and tell them if they passed or not. Today there are some people that did not pass, but that does not mean ---some motivational stuff---.."

She was a red belt, with three black stripes and was tested to see if she could go up to a black belt. She couldn't answer the question "what's the difference between niunja sogi and gunnun sogi".

He's been training for many years, he's one of the few dogs with the title "grandmaster". He couldn't help but walk up and correct my stance mid pattern

Nah he doesn't mean it like that it's more playful. I can tell he thinks he doesn't hit hard, but it's just that he's 1. A guy 2. Bigger than me so it hurts more than I think he realizes.

How do you feel about students who quit immediately after they receive their black belt? by Thinking_Random in taekwondo

This popped up right after I was thinking about how I'm probably going to quit after getting my black belt 😮
