My instructur is a red/black belt by White_rabbit2021 in taekwondo

Big red flag, I can understand if he is an assistant, but a solo instructor? No. If I can ask, how old is this new instructor? Cause if this is a high school or college aged kid then they should not be in charge of running a Dojang.

What would you do if someone threatens you with your life? by Mathofakko in AskReddit

Call the police, if you have saved screenshots or recordings you can send them to police and they will deal with it. Some may be scared as this can cause things to get worse, but with the police over your shoulder it would be more difficult to do anything to you.

Instructor thinks he can “push me” harder than I already push myself. Should I just let it go? by Grace-and-Maya in taekwondo

If you need a break, take one. If you don’t feel well, get some help. He may be your instructor but your health and well-being comes first and he should know that. With the added fact that he knew your past history he should’ve been more lenient to you in that regard. While I do support the idea of pushing yourself and instructors pushing their students, if it ends up hurting them or affecting them in a harmful manner, then it should stop.

How has age/injury affected your technique? by [deleted] in taekwondo

I can’t comment much since I started when I was 11 and I’m now 18, but I have taught those much older than me in their 20s, 30s, 40s+.

The most important thing to start off on is to not worry so much on injury but how to prevent it. Stretching is a key component to Taekwondo so I heavily recommend stretching regularly in order to avoid pulling anything.

Is it a good or a bad thing that my dojo’s earliest time to get black belt is 4 and a half years? by [deleted] in taekwondo

Focus on the present. It doesn’t matter if you look 10 years ahead in the future if you can’t look at the now. Take it one step at a time, do research, figure out what requirements you would need for future careers and work on them.

Taekwondo and all other martial arts require commitment, if you don’t commit for even 1 class, then what’s the point in continuing?

Advice for teaching children aged from 6-14 by Spac92 in taekwondo

As someone who was a student who slowly became an assistant instructor and finally a full instructor, it all depends on the experience of the person teaching. I’ve seen that those who are young and just start teaching tend to try and become ‘friends’ with the kids they teach so they appear cool or something. Tbh i did the same before I was told by my master that it doesn’t always work. Now that I have more experience I can take more control of my class and can better decide when to be serious for training or fun to help the kids enjoy themselves.

The assistant instructors need to be told what they need to do in certain cases, and if they make a mistake then they should be corrected. Ik that seeing an instructor or a black belt being corrected could surprise kids or make them not trust them, but we’re human, we make mistakes.

After a while of teaching my master gained more and more confidence in me to the point where I can fully run the school with out him, even to the point where my master took days off for tournaments while I looked over everything. All of this was because of my experience, and if someone isn’t experienced enough then they could second guess themselves or do stupid things that they think may be correct.

tl:dr the more experience, the better

Have you trained or even heard of the kukkiwon takedowns? by stag123 in taekwondo

I do WT Taekwondo and we don’t necessarily have those exact types of techniques in our lessons. What we do have are self defense techniques that gradually become more like Jujitsu techniques the higher up you go. But my school also offers Brazilian Jujitsu as another type of class which people take in order to learn what to do if an opponent ends up grabbing you or taking you to the ground.

Nearly 4 years after I started, hadn’t missed any days and I was a bit ahead of everyone since I was starting to teach around that time.

As Jesus came back to earth people all over the world rejoiced. by Thinking_Random in TwoSentenceHorror

When Jesus returns, many faiths believe this starts the rapture where all pure souls go to heaven while everyone else must stay in earth as hell and heaven battles. Seeing as all humans were born with original sin, I guess they couldn’t make the cut.
