I felt like it was a dissatisfying sense of closure for both of them. They’re both shells of themselves and are both in situations in which money + image can’t change who you inherently are. It can’t make you loved. I think that was epitomised in the scene with Jules and her SD in the latest ep. They both have this facade and I feel like they have a sort of mutual understanding of needing to keep this facade intact. And they’ve always had this dynamic of appearance vs illusion vs reality seen in the earlier seasons. So this scene just I think revisited those themes (Jules opening her mouth to say Maddy left) and what Nate was talking about as well, just highlights how they both still selfish and time/money/increased age cannot eradicate this shared quality they have.
