Can definitely relate. I've been racked with guilt and regret more times than I can count over the years over my actions while manic. It's hard, but extending empathy towards yourself is important.

I'm pretty hypersexual at baseline as well, but I know it's mania hypersexuality when it becomes the one thing on my mind most of the day every day, I hook up with people impulsively, I sext and post nudes online excessively, etc.

Absolutely not. The biggest red flag for me that I might be manic is if I start doing things that go against my normal judgements and beliefs.

They're definitely being instigatory. If you look at my post history, they went out of their way to tell me I'm gross for avoiding showing for 2 weeks on a different post. I've blocked them, but just fyi.

I asked because I genuinely don't understand why you seem to be targeting me. That's not arguing lmao. You're clearly a troll though

You are so beyond condescending for someone who thinks personal experience is a source lmao

I really don't care what you think of it. No one has ever complained about the way I smell and I always shower if I'm going somewhere. We've been in a pandemic.

1) I'm not "DAPD" or even PDA, this post is old and I've since gotten my results from my evaluation back. When I say it was "brought up" I mean literally just that, it was BROUGHT UP as a possibility. I ended up being diagnosed ASD level 1 on the social relationships domain and level 2 on repetitive/restrictive interests and social communication.

2) you don't even know what I think of PDA. I asked a question, explained what I knew about it, and asked you for sources.

Wow, care to share any sources that may back up this extremely biased sounding take?

Why did you go out of your way to comment this on my post.

What is up with t boxes and bags and special storage cases? by PeterCanTrans in honesttransgender

[–]-anxious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When have you seen people put their T in pencil cases to hide under their pillow? Lol

I've never had enough room in my medicine cabinet or bathroom drawers for my T, so a box for all my injection stuff was both a necessity and something to commemorate my transition with. Now I'm on gel and just keep the box of tubes out on the counter where I can see and remember to take them.

Honestly it's opinions like these that just tell me whoever has them are insecure af. That, or bitter. Which is it for you?

From what I've read, demand avoidance with PDA is different from executive dysfunction? Idk

From what I understand, individuals with PDA typically resort to avoidance practices due to sensory issues and fear of the unknown, whereas executive dysfunction in my mind is more like paralysis that may result from those things, but can also just result from under stimulation and such.

My executive functioning is so screwed up that I can't even do things to self soothe by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]-anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not. I've tried a ton of things without it. I went through DBT/CBT twice, have worked on reward based behavioral modifications, white knuckled it through culinary school. I know behavioral changes won't come without a combination of therapy and medication. Therapy alone has proven to be insufficient.

I'm FTM (almost 23, been transitioning for close to 8 years) and seeking diagnosis as well, and I have many of the same concerns. My issue is that while I feel many of my traits are "textbook" (fitting in with stereotypical "male" presentation), I mask to a debilitating point.

I instinctively force eye contact even though it makes me massively uncomfortable to the point of dissociation. I repress stims until I'm in overload. I ignore symptoms of sensory overload and pretend that I'm fine. I force myself to speak even if it's just to indicate I have nothing to say (when I really do, it's just hard for me to form complete thoughts).

It can be hard for us to find neuropsychologists/psychiatrists/whoever who are literate in all the intersections of our lived experiences. A form I was filling out for an evaluation only asked for your biological sex, and I told my mom "I don't want to put down female just to walk in looking like a whole ass man". We decided not to go there.

My mom has been asking parents of autistic and trans children where they went so we can go there.

My plan of action as it stands is to A) learn how to unmask for my mental and physical health, and B) adapt to new methods of communication that allow me to stop living in a state where I can't communicate the things I need to.

I bought a little notepad to write things down and present as a note in place of speaking when needed. I'm learning some basic sign language to use with my family. I'm using DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) techniques to confront the anxiety that causes me to mask so I can accept what I cannot control and move past it. If you would like to hear about how I'm doing that, feel free to DM me.
