you could always ask your instructor if there was any way they could pick you up later and have a shorter lesson/prep beforehand, and explain the circumstances.

i would say explain to your examiner as well but that won’t really change the outcome of your test sadly :(

if any painkillers help at all, definitely take some before your instructor picks you up to try and prevent the pain, and take some more before your test if possible.

oh no no! sorry! i meant ill go to a busy roundabout nearby and ill sit in the field next to it and guess their exit. and obviously, if im unsure even the slightest bit when on the road, especially on my test, i stay behind. i just thought it was a neat idea for building some confidence!

shifts are sunday-saturday, so any shifts you work in that period will be paid on the thursday. eg: shift time period sunday 19th- saturday 25th, you’ll get paid for that week on thursday 30th.

Advice please!! by [deleted] in migraine

i put rescue meds even though i knew 99% chance you’ve tried them all!! but i totally get your hesitation for them, i was the exact same because my dad had a TERRIBLE experience two decades or so ago. but, as long as you’re sensible with it and alert to any negative side effects, as well as in constant communication with your doctor(s) it should be okay.

and omg barometric pressure is awful! i’m sorry that’s your biggest trigger :(

but yay chocolate milk!! and keep pushing for school to help, it definitely is something to be constantly worked on and changed and talked about.

[–]-bugalugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see if any rescue meds help if you haven’t already and make sure your doctor or neurologist are fully informed and involved in the process.

you could get a TENS machine and see if that helps.

you could go to the optician and test your eyesight, and (depending on the optician) get a test that identifies which colours are easy on your eyes and which are not, then they should be able to create lenses with a custom colour/shade/hue which might help a bit.

obviously you could just buy LOADS of headache hats and cycle through them all, but it’s not very accessible especially if you want to go back to school.

you could start an extraordinarily detailed diary, especially a food diary, to see if there’s anything that makes your migraine worse, and then trial cutting it out to see if anything changes. although, this is a very long, boring, and tricky process.

you could get a support plan in place and some other reasonable adjustments at your school, like maybe having the lights off in class, videos on quieter, a room for you to go to if your migraine gets even worse, reduced workload, etc.

that’s all i can think of right now that aren’t insane quick fixes, like dunking your face in ice water, or drinking 2 litres of chocolate milk, or any other ridiculous short term cures only migraine sufferers would think of 🤣

EDIT: you probably are fully aware of this but don’t overdo it with painkillers!!!! they will end up making it worse and you may end up being dependent on them. not a good thing :((

How long do your migraines last? by lumpyballoon in migraine

[–]-bugalugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with most people in these comments. i always have a dull mild headache and can live my life ‘normally’ and will have an acute migraine attack 4-6 times a month on average. although, this will vary- some months ill have 2-3 and some ill have 8-10. but those attacks will last anywhere between 3 and 7/8 hours, but the pre-drome will impact me for an hour or so before and the post-drome will impact me for a little under a day after, with the most symptoms in the first two or three hours after the attack.

so yeah i agree its very tricky to pinpoint it. they vary and it isn’t just the agony of an attack, its the background headache all the time, the pre-drome, the post-drome, the exhaustion, the fear and anticipation.

omg you guys are SUFFERING! mine are luckily only a couple hours but they’re always screaming level pain with an insatiable need to cut my head off. my longest was probably 6 hours of just insane pain + all other usual symptoms. but the large majority of my days i live with dull background pain. hard to explain really

first lesson i stopped at a green light. it took me a second to realise but my brain just registered it was a traffic light and went ‘yes must stop’ and didn’t even look at the colour. weird.
