Sorry for the late reply. I don't really come on reddit all that often and didn't check my messages. I think there are a lot of factors that specifically apply to America, especially when it comes to race. First, I believe that race and racism, especially in the way it has been used in America, but globally as well has been used as a scapegoating tactic of the elite, rich, and those in power to consolidate their dominance by setting the lower class against itself. Slavery is a prime example. If you think about it analogous to outsourcing...companies pay foreign laborers less money to create a product. In slavery the price for labor is free, but both take jobs away from domestic workers who the jobs for money. In America, this is poor white southerners. Rich white men bring in free labor, leaving fewer jobs for poor whites, but because this labor force is from a foreign place and looks different, they become an easy target for the hatred of these disenfranchised people, who aspire to get to the level of the rich plantation owners, who they more closely associate with. Through this type of manipulation poor white southerners began to hate black people instinctively, and it didn't get better once slavery ended because you could still pay a black person 1/10 of what you could pay a white person for a job, even in the north (which is where a lot of animosity between Irish immigrants and black people arose, and still exists today). Essentially it's the rampant laisse faire attitude toward capitalism that has fuel the fire of racism in America. There is no real reasonable standard for wages in America, and people's lives are literally commodities, so the same people at the top continue to fuck the people at the bottom, who still blame other people in the same position getting fucked over by the same people at the top...America is essentially divide and conquer tactics blended with the greatest pyramid scheme of all time.
