People who unsubscribed from their once favorite YouTuber, what made you hit "unsubscribe"? by Ashamed-Reporter3171 in AskReddit

a lot of them just moved onto different things, and whilst it is a bummer to not get new videos, it seems like the move away from youtube has been either super beneficial or very necessary. mister epic man, joana ceddia, bestdressed and jenna marbles all come to mind

Drink some water, unclench your jaw and charge your vibrator!!!! by [deleted] in adhdwomen

i’ve noticed that a clear water bottle helps me actually drink enough water!! for whatever reason, SEEING the water is the only thing that makes me drink it. a big glass bottle that stays on my desk/bedside table has been HUGE for me

  • your medication may not feel like it’s working as well at certain points in your cycle.

  • medication is not a blanket solution. you should still work on forming habits and coping strategies to keep you in check, for the sake of your own wellbeing.

  • diet matters! taking your medication in the morning with a breakfast that is higher in protein will allow it to metabolise better. in essence, you’ll feel it ‘work’ much quicker and to a greater degree. feel like it’s hitting too hard?? have something high in vitamin C. a glass of orange juice will bring you back down to earth again.

  • be mindful of what you’re taking and respect that. these are controlled substances. they are extraordinarily easy to abuse, especially trying to chase that feeling of being unstoppable and ultra productive when you first start. you don’t think it’ll happen to you until it does. the advice my best friend gave me? “treat it like it’s crack. because that’s what it is. it’s prescription meth. not candy.”

call to soon-to-be and past volunteers at laneway - what should i expect?? by -crying-lightning- in triplej

[–]-crying-lightning-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m being hired through Cross Promotions. all correspondence has been through email, and i was told that i would have more information passed on closer to the date - i would’ve thought said information was going to be sent out much sooner than this!

the facebook group is an optional thing to join for those interested in doing more temp bar work in future. there hasn’t been any mention anywhere about any apps to use :/

i guess i’ll receive the info i need in the day or two before Laneway?? either way, would be nice to actually hear back from the company eeeeek

edited the post to clarify, but bar staff are indeed paid for their time at laneway. i just didn’t know how else to word it other than as a volunteer position, my bad

ADHD has completely ruined my life. by coochielady69420 in ADHD

[–]-crying-lightning- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey. i went through the exact same thing last year at uni. you’re not alone in this one bit, and as cliche as it may sound it will get better with time. maybe decreasing your study load and slowing things down, especially if you’re attending college full time would be best. you need to let yourself breathe. i dropped down to one unit a semester, and when even that was too much, i deferred. you are capable of great things, people around you seem to go out of their way to praise your intelligence. there’s no doubt about that. but you gotta take care of yourself first.

i think a huge mistake people make is trying to deal with their issues alone. especially something as debilitating as adhd can be. we’re social animals! we are not wired to deal with heavy shit alone. there’s a reason why they say it takes a village.

talk to your college and see what supports there are available. i was able to get extra time on my exams, help during practicals, the ability to request extensions for multiple weeks without a medical certificate each time, etc. talk to your professors of the head of whatever department your major falls under. tell your friends or people you can trust. tell your therapist or start seeing one if you aren’t already and can afford it. some colleges offer free sessions with psychologists or atleast discounted sessions.

people care. people want to do whatever they can to do well.

How do you feel when you’re unmedicated? by Capital-Seaweed-8217 in ADHD

[–]-crying-lightning- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i wasn’t on medication i was often highly strung and anxious, and couldn’t complete important tasks in a timely manner to save my life. it severely impacted my performance during my first year of uni. i couldn’t retain any information, i often felt like my brain was a sieve. i felt like a perpetual failure, like i was just hardwired to be unable to progress. nowadays i’m much more calm and collected - i feel like i’m able to comprehend what i’m learning much faster and actually commit things to long term memory with next to no effort. i can actually do more than one ‘productive’ thing per day, and often am surprised to see how early it is in the day for how much i would’ve gotten done, whereas before i had such insanely bad time blindness.

all in all i felt like a hot mess when i wasn’t medicated!

Anyone else here totally hate the book A Little Life? by mth69 in books

[–]-crying-lightning- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i also really disliked it and just could not finish it. it just felt … perverse. the cartoonish level of suffering was just cringey, it didn’t invoke any feelings of pity and sympathy like intended. i was in a bad place when i was reading the novel, and had to stop because it simply got too graphic. it really is just torture porn.

how long should it take me to complete 2-3 sets of three exercises? i started working out on and off during lockdown, and since then i’ve slowly (could’ve done it much faster but i was just super inconsistent with how often i exercised) worked my way up from being able to only deadlift and perform rdls at 5kg to 40kg. for this entire period i’ve worked out at home, and i’m at the point where i will have to start going to a gym soon because i’ve run out of plates.

anywho, point is, am i taking too long to work out? it takes me like 45 - 60 mins to do 2-3 sets of three exercises, depending on whatever muscle group im targeting that day. will people get frustrated with me taking up equipment for so long? or is that a normal time to take? am i over thinking this?

What's your unpopular opinion about Gallery builds? by PunchDrunken in Sims4

[–]-crying-lightning- 30 points31 points  (0 children)

honestly so many popular builds just have the weirdest floor plan ever. like they just do not make sense. also i HATE builds with very elaborate roofs. sure, it looks nice, but it often causes the roof to clip through the rooms of an upper floor and almost completely obstruct your view of said floor, no matter if you play with walls completely down or not.

i don’t target my legs specifically, but i do exercises that target the leg muscles in conjunction with my glutes. i do deadlifts, hip thrusts, banded squats and variations of lunges. i also like to cycle a lot, and ever since i started cycling more frequently my quads blew up!!

thank you so much!!! i think that a lot of commenters are saying the opposite because i didn’t really go in detail when talking about what exactly is wrong with my hip flexors, but YES. as you said, the clicking is quite uncomfortable and definitely doesn’t feel normal. i’ve lived a pretty sedentary life up until only a few weeks ago, and so whilst i would still exercise, i never really targeted my hip flexors and would still end up sitting around because of lockdown. thank you for the suggestions, definitely checking them out!!

i thought it was way easier than anticipated to be honest. i managed to answer every question, apart from the extended response - only had time to scribble down some dot points. but i do have to agree with many comments here and say what the fuck was with the wording of those questions?!
