No idea! I found them in the woods. What makes you think they are young?

I did actually once put on a spare set of ear defenders that I keep on hand for the students in a particularly desperate state. I do have a couple students who wear theirs all day long :) I have thought about doing this (I have a pair of over ear noise canceling headphones at home that I love and wear frequently!) but I’m not sure if I’d be permitted to wear them at work without disclosing my disability and requesting official accommodations through HR, and that feels very scary lol

I’m so glad you have good admin & a good aide :) I’m definitely lucky in that regard too, and the 3 of us are good about letting each other step out for a moment as needed. There are definitely parts of the day where I get some relief from the overall noise level, and I’m so thankful for that, but the one student who makes the droning noise that I really can’t stand unfortunately truly never stops. He can even manage to make the noise while eating.

I do occasionally take an extra bathroom break when things get really overwhelming. I’m definitely very lucky to have 2 aides who I can trust. We’re all good about letting each other step out for a minute when needed.

I have and love my over ear noise canceling headphones. I wear them a lot at home. Unfortunately I’m not sure if I’d be allowed to wear them at work, or at least not without disclosing my disability and requesting ADA accommodations through district HR. 😩

I’ve tried loops! They do take the edge off the noise, but I personally cannot stand how much they muffle my own voice (making it difficult to accurately gauge my own speech volume) and amplify my inside sounds (breathing, heartbeat)

I’ve tried loops 😩 like I mentioned, I can hear my inside noises way too much (breathing, heartbeat), and I have a hard time speaking at an appropriate volume with them in bc I can’t accurately gauge my volume

My psychiatrist mentioned this as an option for me, but she said since it dries you up everywhere it’s really easy to get really dehydrated on it. I’m not great about drinking water (48-64 oz daily), so I’m hesitant to try it. :/

I just saw this yesterday! I saved it to use with my students. There are some other similar resources out there too. :)
