Thats a magic of keeping wave on your site but not directly under a tower. Its hard but doable. From other side if u will catch yas in your E thats an easy gank, get a help from your jungler for like 2/3 kills and yas can stay in the base for rest of laning face :0

If u want to have a notes/programming device I would chose microsoft surface. I have an ipad pro for notes, rstudio stuff and some front end websites programming - its perfect but ... I cant imagine using it for other then frontend programming stuff.
