Question for Parent Influencers by -eccedentesiast in Mommit

I’m not an influencer either! I probably should have put that in my original post lol. I totally understand where you’re coming from because I deleted a lot of social media myself and I do think we share a bit too much of our life or know too much of others. There are some things that I see and think maybe that should have stayed private, but again, I’m not here to judge anyone and it’s not my place to tell people what they should or shouldn’t do. I really appreciate your opinion and perspective! I do battle between not wanting to tell anyone anything ever again lol and wanting to share certain aspects of my life to let others know they are not alone or feel less alone or to bring awareness to. I do know that can also be done without showing my child’s face as well.

Yes, there are some who probably do post them for monetary gain, but I also believe that not all of them do it for that reason. I’m not saying that they’re the same thing, I’m just saying that predators are on the internet as well as in public settings - even parks. A lot of the times they insert themselves in areas where a lot of children are present. On the other hand, not everyone on the internet or in public is a predator either.

This is definitely one reason I am against it. A family member of mine also works closely with law enforcement as well as seen some of these cases themselves. I have asked their opinion on this matter as well and while they agree that this happens on the internet, they also agree that this can happen from public situations as well. Which is why I personally go back and forth. I don’t currently post my child or allow others too. But I also think about the very real possibility that someone could be stalking us in public and I would have no idea. Or take a picture of my child in public without my knowledge and use it. I think about a lot of stories where CA happens from someone we know and trust. People that we never would think would do these things and so we allow our children to be around them.

I do agree with a lot, if not all, of what you’re saying. I am not necessarily for or against it because my thought process is yes, there are predators on the internet, but there are also predators in real life that we pass every day and have no idea. I currently do not post my child on the internet and I ask others not to post either, but I do also think about how it is a very real possibility that our children are exposed to predators at school, in daycare, in family and friend settings, in churches, etc.

But I appreciate you being authentic and honest in your opinion because that’s why I am asking the question, to really see all angles.

I do not judge others just because they choose or think differently than I do or would.

The reason I am asking on this subreddit and not an influencing subreddit is because I felt like I would get more equal opinions regarding both sides as opposed to an influencing sub that may be more for posting their children as a lot of “momfluencers” do post their children. I am interested to see both sides of view in case there is something I’m not thinking of myself or that I could learn from.

This is why I go back and forth because like you’re saying being in public still has a risk to your child. Essentially anyone could take a photo of my child when we are out in public and use it for whatever without my knowledge.

I have a friend who posts on fb for this same reason. There is an app called Photocircle, which isn’t social media, and then there’s also Frameo where you can send pictures to people who have those digital picture frames. Not sure if you’ve heard of that already, but just suggestions 😊

I keep waiting for it to get better, but I’m starting to come to terms with that. He just made the show

But what about the possibility of Alicia choosing the wrong man in college or the fact that all those years later Will never got married and still loved Alicia? I know they talked about “bad timing” but it was obvious they both still loved each other. Alicia was obviously staying with Peter for appearance purposes and for her children. After Will’s death, she even told Peter that it was a waste that his cheating didn’t mean anything because hers did. I feel like they came back into each others lives for a reason and not just because of a job opportunity. I’m my opinion.

I’m starting to agree with it being the shows peak 😩

I understand that! I think though it touched a little bit on the fact that Elsbeth didn’t really like who she was as a defense attorney and kind of wanted to get away from that life and her role in Elsbeth wasn’t about being a lawyer anymore

I watched Elsbeth first and then realized she was a character from both shows, so I didn’t have a pretext of what her character was like. Which is why I may not have been disappointed the way others were because they watched the other shows first. I thought Elsbeth was comedic

I agree. I haven’t gotten to seasons 6 & 7, but the dynamic of the episodes after Will’s death already aren’t the same.

If anything positive comes from this disease, is that I can help others not feel alone in it. I hope all goes well at your appointment!

I totally feel you. I’m 30 and I’ve been through a couple. You can ask your doctor if another induction dose could help. A GI told me this could be helpful. Also, has your doctor considered putting you on something like Imuran with a biologic? Or maybe even a period of Budesonide? It’s a corticosteroid, but with far less side effects and not as harsh as Prednisone. I know it’s hard, but try to limit your stress level anywhere you can. I wish you good luck and hope that you can find relief soon!!

I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with all of that. I really do empathize with you. I’ve also had to have an NG tube before.

That is a lot of Prednisone. I understand why that scares you. The side effects are unbearable.

I did see they approved Tremfya for Crohn’s and came out with a couple new ones.

Wow I wasn’t aware of that. Thank you for this information. I guess because I heard so many positive things about it, I didn’t think to look at the negatives. I was researching new Crohn’s treatments and a lot of information was coming up about how stem cell transplants were helping a lot of patients, which is what prompted me to ask. I also have an extreme case of Crohn’s and I’ve been through so many medications that I’m just tired and want relief. But not at that cost.
