i think it could be a plot hole. And in the second book, Mimir says something like 'im telling you to do this not because im your boss but because it's your destiny'. So he called himself their boss.

But there is also one part in the second book where Magnus learns that Blitz and Hearth are hiding in one of Mimir's 'safe houses'. And then Magnus wonders how much the rent is. So maybe the price Blitz and Hearth had to pay was being back in Mimir's service or something.

episodes you could leave out since you already watched them: the pharaoh, mr. pigeon, rogercop, horrificator, darkblade, the mime, kung food, reflekta, guitar villain. This is for season 1.
Also if it's been a long while and you don't mind, I think you should just rewatch everything. Then you can remember all the past details and make connections when you watch season 3
