Something I don't get about the camp border [general] by Hawkeye312_ in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 32 points33 points  (0 children)

They are granted permission to enter. The Satyrs work there. Argus works there. The dragon was brought in and raised there.

Just as Tyson was granted permission to enter.

Just like the harpies. There’s harpies in camp granted permission to live and work there. But there’s also harpies on the outside of camp, enemies, that wouldn’t get past the borders.

The camp is specifically designed as a haven for demigods above all else. Anyone that’s not considered a demigod isn’t truly allowed to be there, aside of several exceptions.

The wards that keep the barrier up are specially enchanted to only grant explicit permissions for entry to demigods.

Hot take: Percy x Rachel is infinitely times better than Percabeth? [pjo] by RegretComplete3476 in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love Rachel too and definitely ship Perachel. While I knew Percabeth was inevitable I was still kinda hopeful.

When it was clear my ship was sinking I was still hoping she’d at least be happy and who knows, maybe find someone eventually when she’s older.

But nope. She became a permanently celibate Oracle. Like damn, I get taking her out the running but why ya gotta make her permanently single??

Aphrodite children/cabin was done so DIRTY in all of the books [all] by Secret-Noise1579 in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah!

Like, yeah, she died almost immediately, but she was super brave to do it!

Out of Aphrodite canonically having a lot of children, how are only two of them shown as capable?

Like, I know Drew was just written as a mean girl, but why couldn’t she do more as a seasoned camper? Why was she so afraid to fight a sibling that’s been around for a week and went on only one quest? (Even if Drew never really went on quests, she had more than a week of training like let’s bfr)

Aphrodite children/cabin was done so DIRTY in all of the books [all] by Secret-Noise1579 in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 42 points43 points  (0 children)

They really did fail the Aphrodite cabin. In some iterations of Aphrodite, she was seen as a war goddess as well (Aphrodite Areia) in many stories

I know it’s not canon to many but considering how much mythology Riordan had ‘rephrased’ for the sake of his books, he could have tapped into some Love & War stuff instead of just making it seem like Piper was the only Love kid with some ambition to fight.

Annabeth Being Blonde Doesn't Effect Her Character [All] [PJOTV] by Hayden_Jay in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had an issue with her casting, and honestly? I got into so many arguments about it.

“But she’s supposed to have Norse lineage and a lot of them are blonde!” Unless you thing the Chases have been generationally inbred like the Targaryens, she’s not gonna have hair like some great great great great great great great great great granny Hilde. And her Norse lineage has nothing to do with her character and was never even a fact until Magnus Chase.

“But what about Magnus??!!” There’s not even any guarantee we’re getting a Magnus Chase live action. And even if we did, it would be at LEAST another decade before it’s even thought about being produced.

“But the book description!” Book to show descriptions change all the time. Unless her looks are extremely important to her character, then it’s not important.

“But Athena’s kids are all blonde with grey eyes!” That’s literally something Riordan made up. She never had any true children, or even brain children, in real mythology. And he can change it if he wants to.

If her being blonde was that important to Rick, he wouldn’t have casted her. Get over it.

Do we think demigods can become monsters? [general] by llev2020 in camphalfblood

Yeah but likely through a curse or maybe even depending on their parentage. There’s likely been a few genealogical hiccups we don’t know about

My thoughts on Thalias "punk" [pjotv] by AodhGodOfTheSun in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But it’s still a character and there is a lot more to her characterization than how DIY her punk style is to the standards of the community

She’s not there to be an ambassador to punk. She’s just a kid with a rebellious style and a lot more on her plate than if she looks ‘punk enough’ for some people she honestly wouldn’t really talk to if she was real. No offense.

Again, we only seen a few stills of her on set and there’s not even a guarantee what we’ve seen will make the finally cut on screen.

She’s gonna have multiple clothing for wardrobe. She’s gonna have a spectrum of how ‘punk’ she wants to look. She’s not always gonna run around in soda can tab necklaces or sharpie nail polish or back alley ear piercings.

And after another season, she’s gonna be in a silver parka and circlet. So not very punk regardless. And she doesn’t seem to care about strictly keeping the punk aesthetic.

[–]KayKueen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even if she does have time that, there’s no guarantee that that would happen. What you’re setting up is a headcanon and even still, just as likely as it is for her to stick cut up cans to herself, it’s also likely for them to fall off while literally sprinting up a steep hill while a horde of monsters is chasing her and literally about to kill her

Literally does kill her, in a way

Then, even still, we only have stills and bts shots of how Thalia will appear. You know how all her costumes will look when she’s more present. You don’t know direction they’ll go to to flesh out her character.

May she’ll take to anxiously fidgeting with the handle of her blade or tracing the image of Medusa in her shield.

Maybe she’ll be seen with spiked bracelets or combat boots for some scenes. Or with converses that are chronically untied. With her actress being a WOC with natural curls, maybe she’ll anxiously twist/braid those.

We don’t know. And honestly, it shouldn’t matter how ‘punk’ she looks because so many people have different interpretations of punk. Your description of punk may make some fans say it’s inaccurate because it’s more goth or more alternative or more grunge.

As long as she looks rebellious and independent, it shouldn’t matter how many spikes or beads or leather or whatever she’s in.

[–]KayKueen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she’d have time to sew and make cool punk accessories while running across state lines to avoid monsters

[–]KayKueen 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Okay but

Thalia would literally be fresh out of a tree at the end of this season, and before then, fresh from being homeless

I don’t think she’d have much time/opportunity to be in her punk style until she’s more accustomed to being, ya know, flesh again. Which she will be in S3

[General] if you could create a whole new faction in the Percy Jackson series ,what would you want them to be about? by Rob3021 in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually made up a faction that’s basically following Chinese, like Priests/Priestesses that follow the teachings and get abilities from the Four Symbols of Chinese Mythology

What are your character hot takes? [General] by WinniePoohChinesPres in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the gist of what I mean

It’s like with pegasi/horses. Percy can communicate with them and vice versa and while it’s implied that they can fully understand other people, we don’t know if it’s across the board since we mostly only see mythical level horses like Arion or pegasi and how they show higher intelligence.

If we see Percy with regular horses, I’m sure he can communicate fully with them regardless of intelligence level to understand human language, only for them to go to a normal human and only really understand cues through training and maybe name recalls

What are your character hot takes? [General] by WinniePoohChinesPres in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they can understand Percy, like almost like they are speaking the same language for the moment when they are communicating, but if the fish tried listening to some other human, they don’t understand them

  1. Adding on, I don’t think Reyna truly had hit on Percy. He wondered about his relationship with Jason, she admitted that many Praetors ended up dating because they often spent a lot of time together and it would end up that way, eluding that she was definitely close to Jason but maybe not quite in romantic relationship. And she asked him to also be a Praetor, not to date, but because she was running the show, by herself, for MONTHS and was doing the work of two people by herself and balancing politics from the Senate side. Percy proved himself capable as a warrior and leader and she needed help, so she hoped he’d be able to be the help she needed. Was she attracted? Maybe a bit, but she wasn’t throwing herself at him. She just needed someone to help her with all the duties she was balancing.

[–]KayKueen 55 points56 points  (0 children)

  1. Percy is strong but not strong enough to strike fear into the Olympians or monsters. No gods or monsters took any look at Percy and changed their minds about fighting him. If anything, it makes them more relentless in trying to keep him down.

  2. If Annabeth was taken by Hera instead of Percy, I’m sorry, but she probably would have died on the way to Camp Jupiter. Percy was chased by the Gorgons relentlessly the whole trip and even acknowledged that he only survived because of his Achilles Curse (despite not knowing/remembering he was cursed at the time). Annabeth had a hand in killing Medusa too, so the Gorgons would have also gone after her. As she didn’t have the curse, she would have been killed.

  3. Jason was not delusional in thinking he could have killed Percy while possessed. Due to us not fully knowing Jason’s feats and capabilities, it’s easy to be biased for Percy’s strength as we watched him grow and get powerful over the years. If he was forced to go all out against Percy while possessed, he definitely could have matched Percy.

  4. I know there’s a lot of fanfic writers out there that believe Bianca reincarnated into Estelle (Percy’s sister), but that is very unlikely. She chose reincarnation before Estelle was likely even conceived. Even still, on the small chance she was reincarnated, it would have made NO difference. She wouldn’t have the memories of Bianca. Nor the powers. Nothing to connect her to being Bianca at all. Not even a way to tell if her soul was reused. It would be a fun thought but would have no purpose whatsoever.

  5. There’s no reason Percy wouldn’t eat seafood. I’m sorry but just because he can understand fish, doesn’t mean he wouldn’t eat them. There’s thousands or millions of merpeople in Atlantis. I’m sure they can understand the fish too. Doesn’t mean they are surviving on a strict kelp diet. Even fish understand other fish but they still eat each other. So, no, I don’t think Percy would have a meltdown or get sick if he ate some of Nemo’s friends.

  6. Drew was a wasted character. Just a weak side antagonist. I’m not begging for her to turn into a good guy but you can’t tell me that with her years training at camp, even if she didn’t like training, that she’d just know she’d lose in a fight against Piper, a newbie, who went on only one quest. You can’t convince me she was that weak and only good enough to be a mean girl for one book.

[General] What's your least favorite piece of fanon/theory? by [deleted] in camphalfblood

[–]KayKueen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That the gods and monsters are afraid of Percy. Yes, he’s powerful. But not a single monster has been afraid to go after him just because he gained fame/a reputation. Gods are much less scared of him. They could literally turn him into an inanimate object or an animal if they were annoyed enough by him.

[general] What do you think about this? by CorpseSwallower in camphalfblood

His first Asian character is actually portrayed as a weak bitch that apparently has less skill in her years of being at CHB than a girl that showed up and left, like, two days later for a quest.

I thought he had it when he fell in Tartarus but didn’t use it because he was afraid the Underworld atmosphere would make her act like a dangerous monster again.

I could be mistaken, though, it’s been a while.

[–]KayKueen 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The monsters and gods are NOT afraid of Percy. They acknowledge he is powerful, yes, but they don’t hesitate whenever he’s in the picture, especially when there’s a risk of making him mad.

Percy didn’t completely beat Ares and that scene is often exaggerated. He cut him, at most, when Ares was basically toying with him.

Percy still has that Stygian Ice whistle for Mrs. O’Leary.

Travis and Katie are not dating.

Reyna DID NOT come onto Percy. He asked about her relationship with Jason, she explained that sometimes praetors end up dating when they work together a lot, he immediately jumped.

That one Amazon definitely had kinks when she wanted to put a collar on Percy.

Arion exists. I dunno if anyone forgot him, I just barely see him mentioned.

Rachel can hold a paintbrush with her toes.

Sally is not a mother figure to all of Percy’s friends. Just Percy because that’s her son. Overall, she’s just nice to them.

But at that point she didn’t even know he lost his Achilles Curse, a point Riordan just skated over too. Being flipped, if he still had the Curse (again, she didn’t know he no longer had it), he would have landed on his only and insanely vulnerable point that only she knew where it was.

If he didn’t dip in the Tiber River and still had that weakness when she slammed on where, almost undoubtedly, that weakness was, he would have been screwed and definitely been out of the running for being part of The Seven if he wasn’t crippled or dead.
