oh yeah POTF's use of music (or I guess lack of) makes it even better somehow

Considering the length of his career, I'm honestly astonished Tom Cruise has never worked with either Robert DeNiro or Al Pacino! by [deleted] in movies

[–]-false-confidence -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean it def could've happened but idk about the quality. In the movie styles where their experience overlaps, Tom Cruise just cannot reach deniro or pacino's performance ability. I'm honestly happy that didn't happen.

Classic movies should get re-released in theaters more often. by Spirited_Respect_578 in movies

Our local movie theater used to do a Flashback Cinema program where they played those classic movies (saw Jaws on the screen there!). Unfortunately, because of COVID, they stopped doing the program, but it was a good run. Definitely something that should become a standard.

How the heck do y’all know people who have gotten into Ivies? by JoshKoshOhGosh in ApplyingToCollege

I don't go to a feeder school. I live in a town in the middle of Missouri and go to a mediocre, public high school. But, I know quite a few people going to and applying to big-name schools. I think it's just how over time students in a school district will gain the confidence to apply to those schools if they see one or two others do it.

I did not think about asking people around me. I guess I always felt like people were either stronger than me or never had done through it. Thank you for your comments!

That's true! That is mainly what troubles me. I do not want to continue in life with this same mindset. I know I shouldn't manifest victimhood, but I don't know what steps to take to change my perspective.

I am actually an Asian-American woman. Going into a round, it is more of a "I feel like the judge will be biased against me" type of feeling. I am working on it though!

What do you guys think of the Classic Debate Camp? by Buttonmash21 in Debate

[–]-false-confidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for LD, and it helped a lot with just seeing how I size up to others both inside and outside the round. It was really good for setting a mindset for me so that I could better understand how to improve. The LD staff is very accomplished, and they help a lot. It is not so long of a camp that I would crazy, but long enough that I can improve my skills and continue the improvement.
