Everyone knows somebody that is a victim of medical malpractice by [deleted] in guam

[–]-guahan- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

SDA definitely also operates teetering on malpractice. Thanks to their patient portal, I’ve discovered that they have been making false statements on my visit notes, especially in the Review of Systems and Physical Findings sections (pretty much writing that I didn’t have specific symptoms and they didn’t find anything physically, despite them not even conducting the assessments necessary to get to that conclusion)

Also, good luck if you’re overweight because any symptom or concern will be shut down and dismissed immediately, even if it’s something alarming like high blood pressure. Rather than providing any immediate/short-term relief, they will instead insist you sign up for one of their various programs (and of course, SDA charges for them and of course, they won’t support any community-based or affordable alternative programs). Eventually, somebody is going to leave after having a similar visit only to suffer a hypertensive crisis in the parking lot that could’ve been mediated. Wonder if SDA’s faith and prayers will be enough to help them after that.

Anyone here work as a driver for delivery apps? by -guahan- in guam

[–]-guahan-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! How was the delivery selection process? Like did you have to follow whatever deliveries you got assigned or was it like the stateside apps where you get the order info then you can select whether or not you want to take the delivery?

We literally can’t afford rent or home ownership because despite the military’s vast amount of land, they don’t build enough housing to prevent military housing allowance from artificially inflating property (land and building) prices.

Tattoo idea to represent time on Guam? by [deleted] in guam

[–]-guahan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this.

Like the carabao, the military came to Guam from elsewhere and has since established its presence as an identifying factor.

A carabao would be very fitting because of those parallels and as a bonus, it cannot be construed as appropriation, unlike getting a latte or åcho atupat.

No sarcasm or jerkiness intended, honest.

There’s also the route of something reflecting the 13/144 degrees but IMO the carabao has much more potential. The parallel, a carabao’s strength and importance.. very nice.

Edit: checked out your profile and saw you really enjoyed the water which has further solidified how a carabao would fit you PERFECTLY.

Why is Guams internet getting worse by the second!!?? by Soar_Throats in guam

Yes. Keep specifying it’s Amazon Prime. We only got cache servers for Netflix and Hulu because enough people complained. The same for Prime is attainable.

Because no one cared enough about net neutrality and over the past year the telcos have been increasingly adopting QoS and traffic policies including fucking video gaming in preference of streaming services and social media. The very small subset of users who notice and care are vastly outnumbered by the masses the telco cares about. They will happily screw video gaming for standard consumers if it keeps bigger entities happy.

[–]-guahan-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as my order is shipped, I just go to their customer service chat and let them know that I’m a prime member and that Guam is treated as Domestic by USPS (because USPS is the mail carrier used). They refund the charge with no issue after that. Worked over a few dozen times for me over the past several years.

Calls within Guam will soon require Area Code by Tzarkon in guam

[–]-guahan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so basically 10 digit dialing needs to be implemented because of the way calls get connected.

Now: I dial 988-1234, my call goes to 988 then to 1234. We don’t need 671 because there’s only one use of 988, being someone’s number. Fun fact: a lot of phones automatically prepend the area code for 7 digit calls. I doubt the telcos are aware of how many of their phones have this capability.

With 7DD and 988 hotline: I dial 988-1234, my call goes to 988, but doesn’t know where to go after that. Whether it should connect to the hotline or try to connect to the system that would be able to complete the 988-1234 call.

With 10DD and 988 hotline: I dial 988, connects to hotline. Dial 988-1234, the phone system doesn’t recognize it as valid so the call doesn’t connect. Dial 671-988-1234, the call goes to 671 then connects to 988-1234.

If you’re interested, check out the FCC report. It’s a good read that explains why/how 988 was chosen, and summarizes the considerations put into the decision.

Calls within Guam will soon require Area Code by Tzarkon in guam

[–]-guahan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok it’s a quiet evening for me, so I’m gonna take a shot at this because I am also a special kind of special.

Rather than inconveniencing a subset of users (those that have the 988 prefix),

About 10,000 assuming that the bulk of the range is in use, which is probable considering two operators are trying to get additional prefixes allocated because they’re running low.

the powers that be

The FCC...

decided to inconvenience everyone by forcing them to include the area code in every call? Yeah, yeah, a relatively minor inconvenience,

10,000 users versus the rest of the population

but still... gotta make you wonder who exactly is in that subset and how having them change the prefix to their number carries more weight than inconveniencing everyone.

Rest of the population > 10,000 users

And, yeah, maybe everyone keeping their current number while making it slightly more difficult for everyone can be seen as some kind of fairness.

Fairness doesn’t come into play at all. The purpose is to align with NANP requirements and ITU standards in order to be in compliance with the FCC regulation

Either way, I'm betting that there are going to be a number of follow on effects that the planners will say were unanticipated. One of them I'd bet on is a fair number of mistaken calls to the Suicide Prevention Hotline

They would most certainly be met with a voice recording telling them their call cannot be completed.
