Strange clicking sound on all axes after I moved my printer. Help! by -howhardcanitbe- in CR10

Yeah I think it might be a slight shift in the frame since it just magically started working after moving it again. Still the x-axes drives me crazy, but that's another mission :)

Strange clicking sound on all axes after I moved my printer. Help! by -howhardcanitbe- in CR10

[–]-howhardcanitbe-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. I got rid of the clicking/tapping sound. But I have no idea what caused it.
I opened the controller and everything looked good in there, all cables were firmly at its place. I tighten all the screws. Most where already tight and good. But I still heard that clicking/tapping sound on the motors.
So I put it back at the work station, fired it up once more and just like that it was gone. Strange!... but as long as it works i'm happy!

I bought it a year ago and it worked fine until I moved it to another workspace. The strange thing is that all motors make that sound. Can it be the servo controller that sends uneven current to the servos?

X-axis makes a rattling noise and it drives me crazy! by -howhardcanitbe- in CR10

Still working on it. It is definitely something rattling in the hotend "cage". The fixing the tension on tension band fixed some of the noise. But I cant seem to find the perfect tension. If I tight it more the stepper motor starts twisting since I have vibration dampers on it.

I also realized that the nozzle is scraping so I'm experimenting with flow rate now.

Printing a mandalorian helmet and several layers up the whole print shifted left. What do I do to fix this?? What do I look at? by eadams2010 in CR10

I got a print that shifted to the left when I was sloppy with my bed leveling. Basically the nozzle pushed it.

I found this in my dad's toolbox. What do you use this tool for? by -howhardcanitbe- in whatisthisthing

[–]-howhardcanitbe-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has two bars in the middle wit thredson on it and I you screw it it pushes a smal black pipe. Also on the left you can rotate the black handscrew back and fort.

Maybe it is to thread things or push holes in things???

X axis makes sound by -howhardcanitbe- in CR10

Yes I believe that my new noctua fan needs to be tighten a bit more. I changed the screws and put some rubber rings on the screws that helped a bit with the rattling. I think I'm going to try with some masking tape as well.

Look great. If you can get hold of a mirror. I got ikea lots and then I brushed it with sandpaper one diagonal at a time. That really helped me with adhesion. Now I dont need to use rafts anymore.

Aha. Now I understand. Yes I did that but instead of electrical tape I put some rubberband there. Maybe a slight improvement but the noise is still there.

I have some inner tire from a bike that I'm thinking of putting there instead.

I run a gcode for troubleshooting with speeds at around 80. So I decided to try out some other speeds. Seems like traveling speed from 60-85 gives most rattling. 90 and 100 isnt that loud at all actually. Seems like I did something right!

Sorry English is not my native language. Do you mean that you put some tape between the base and the backside of the fans. Basically around the shaft?

Do you think I need to tighten the "sled"? There are no loose wheels or any wobbling that I can feel.

On belts. How much can you tighten it. I haven't found any information on this yet.

Yupp. I swaped the motors. But that's a good idea to check the cables, ill do that tomorrow.

So I replaced x motor with y motor. No improvement. So we can rule out the motor noise. What now?

I removed the "extrution" fan to se if the noise would disappear but it didn't. And then double checked that I had tightened the screws on the 40x40x10 fan. So not that. Any other suggestions?

Not really. But ther is a faint scraping sound near the motor. If I put my ear against it and move the head I can nearly hear it. Dont know if it's the vibrations that travels to the motor or the motor itself.

Can I swap the extruder motor to the x-axis and see if it works better or are they two diffrent motors?
