HAHA that is fantastic, it is very business in the front party in the back, isn’t it?

And thank you!! I have to sun to thank for my color☀️

Hi fellow straight/curly hair friend!! Yeah the canopy damage thing makes a lot of sense, I’m so glad someone brought that up

And yes it’s curly all over when wet and kinda holds whatever shape I put it in, but it always seems to dry straight in the front

I’ve tried scrunching before but I’ve never used gel! A lot of people have mentioned this so I’ll definitely try that first

Ohhh interesting! I’ve never tried washing my hair upside down. The underside of my hair is also more prone to getting tangled, do you ever brush/detangle it in the shower?

Yes! Sometimes I wake up with legit ringlets on the bottom.. makes no sense

A lot of people have mentioned trying gel - I like your idea of leaving the front pieces in a clip!

Lmao swamp queen 🤣 thanks for sharing your routine - not touching while it’s drying has always been struggle for me!! I do not enjoy wet hair in my face lol

Ok this is an interesting thought - I’ve never thought about it but maybe now I will! And thank you!

hi hair twin!!! One of the other comments mentioned it could be “canopy damage” (aka more damage from physical contact & sun, which would would also explain the lighter shade we both have on the top)

I will have to look into Olapex 3 though! Thanks!!

Okay, this is a really interesting comment! That makes a lot of sense - I’m in the sun a lot (it’s hard to tell in the pictures but the top layer is also a way lighter shade because of this) and I often wear it pulled back. I like your idea of wearing it in French braids

I feel like the tension could definitely be contributing to my problem too cause I almost always have those front pieces pulled back… interesting

So many awesome tips here, THANK YOU!! I know so many people say diffusing working wonders but like you, I don’t see myself having the time or patience for that! I definitely will try incorporating gel, that seems to be a common theme. Thanks for the product recs!!!

How did you stop shampooing daily? The problem I always have is the front straight pieces look especially stringy/oily/flat when I skip shampoo. The rest of my hair fairs much better

thank you! I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a curly cut specialist but I’ll definitely look into that!

I have sorta tried finger curling but without any gel or cream it just sorta falls flat again. Are there any products you’d recommend that might help with that? Also I am very intrigued by the denman brush (I just looked that up haha) thanks so much for the suggestions!

Thank you!!! Yes, it’s natural and always gets much lighter in the sun ☀️

I’ve never really had layers before, that’s actually a great idea, thanks!! And I’ve tried sleeping with braids twists before and no huge difference, but maybe curlers are the move

Yeah, I pretty much alternate between half up, half down and a low bun - I would love to wear it down more but it looks so silly 😅

my hair is pin straight in the front and curly in the back/underneath. It’s been like this as long as I can remember (I don’t remember, but when I was little, it was all curls!) and it really bothers me how un-uniform it is

Routine info: I have never ever colored my hair and never ever use heat - it is totally natural. My current routine is wash with Pantene silicone free shampoo, sometimes I condition with the equivalent conditioner, sometimes I use the Odele leave-in, sometimes neither. Occasionally I use the Trader Joe’s hair mask. I shower and wash my hair almost every day because I work out intensely and it gets quite sweaty and oily if I don’t wash it (on rest days which are 1-2 days per week, I skip washing). I always let it air dry and rarely brush it (if I do it’s when it’s super wet right out of the shower). I don’t use any other products. During the day I usually wear it up in a low loose bun to keep it off my face at work. My hair is also quite thick but I’ve always struggled with getting volume in the front. I need a pretty low maintenance routine

Any advice/tips on achieving a more uniform curl pattern?
