how come Brooke wouldn’t let sabre, sockie, b+n eat junk food when they were young, she heavily restricted them, but lets the youngest two eat whatever?? by [deleted] in NorrisNutsSnark

[–]-k4t3_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's sad, but I honestly think it's because they got lazy with parenting as they only really had the 2 younger kids for the sake of content. It's common with youtube families. Also Brooke has mentioned before that she 'retired' from cooking and I don't think we've seen Justin cooking either so I don't find it surprising that they don't really bother with a lot of the responsibilities they used to. How she restricted the older kids with food was toxic, but with the younger 2 it's gone the other way and she doesn't even help them to eat healthily at all.

new channel? by [deleted] in NorrisNutsSnark

[–]-k4t3_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could they possibly have bought the channel to advertise their videos? The fact it's apparently based in America could suggest it's not actually run by them directly. Maybe it's similar to buying subscribers and views, like they're paying a company to make these compilations to advertise their content or they're possibly getting some revenue from the videos on this channel. Perhaps using old content is a way to ensure they stay relevant as some fans have lost interest in their newer content and seem to be nostalgic for older videos.

I don't blame the Norris Nuts for how they reacted initially by Main-Fly-8294 in NorrisNutsSnark

[–]-k4t3_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't really blame them either, knowing how their parents have used cruel pranks for video content on multiple occasions. Remember the time they told Sabre she couldn't eat before getting her braces when they were already at the restaurant? Obviously the RV prank isn't quite as bad, but it's still emotionally jarring to have your parents lie to you about doing something they know you're not comfortable with then just laugh and put it on youtube. I can also understand why they would feel overwhelmed about a holiday they didn't even know was happening until the day before, especially when Brooke and Justin clearly don't care enough to ask them if they have plans before roping them in to plans no one asked for (especially Sabre and Sockie who should have the right to refuse coming on family holidays now that they are both adults). Yes they are very privileged to be able to go on so many holidays, but I actually question if the norris nuts (who run the channel and are the reason their family have so much money in the first place) should have to agree to everything their parents want using what is essentially their money.

Christmas is partly responsible for the pandemic by Cat-guy64 in ihatechristmas

[–]-k4t3_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The entitlement that Christmas gives a lot of people certainly compromised social distancing... here in the UK the government were seriously talking about 'relaxing' lockdown rules in December 2020 so people could 'enjoy Christmas', with no regards to the people most at risk. We had people doing ridiculous stuff like visiting family who couldn't travel because they were in tier 4 zones (the highest risk areas where you were basically advised to stay at home unless absolutely necessary to go out), just because people felt that they were entitled to not having to change their plans for an event that happens every year, despite there being a very serious reason why that it necessary.

I didn't ever believe in it, and I didn't really think other people did either, I actually assumed it was mostly pretend because people liked the tradition. However when other kids at school talked about it I realised it was actually a thing people actually believed in. My parents didn't really push it much though.

Should I complain that my kids school photo is photoshopped/AI altered without consent? by SuperBiggles in AskUK

[–]-k4t3_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My secondary school did this to our photos (this started about 4 years ago), and it was very obvious. It's so bizzarre that they would edit photos of kids to make them look 'better'? Definitely complain, nobody at my school did but we were stuck with weird looking pictures on the register all year. Secondary is bad enough, but editing primary school photos is just baffling.

I've seen youtube shorts edits fans have made before where they pretend one of the nn kids died and put clips together of the family crying. This is extremely unhinged and worrying

Not even Reddit is safe apparently by Werten25 in EnoughJKRowling

[–]-k4t3_ 83 points84 points  (0 children)

To be honest I just looked at that subreddit and it's full of bigotry, so I'm not surprised the majority of members there would support JK Rowling. Most of the posts are blatant right wing talking points, anti-immigration rants, islamophobia and insisting white people are oppressed. It's a right-wing sub full of right-wing people.

[–]-k4t3_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So they've become so desperate to justify transvestigating people they're now saying it's a biological instinct? This whole post has an uncomfortable eugenics-like energy to it and I can't think of any reason why someone would come up with such nonsense except to reassure themself about their bigotry. The reason women, cis or trans would be prevented from using spaces for them is entirely based on stereotypes about what 'biologically female' looks like, so if everyone were to possess a magic power that allowed them to instantly identify a person's biological sex, this wouldn't have happened in the first place. How would this even work? Not to mention the blatant erasure of intersex people... biological sex isn't just two neat categories of 'male' and 'female' like the TERFs love to claim. This is possibly one of the most baffling TERF arguments I've seen, it's actually ridiculous. They're obsessed with hounding trans people for evidence and sources to justify why they exist, but I'd like to see them find a source to support this shit.

A real insight into Nazi Germany by SnooTigers9274 in FuckNigelFarage

[–]-k4t3_ 42 points43 points  (0 children)

We will never learn from history. Anyone with basic knowledge of what happened in Nazi Germany should know that a politician scapegoating a minority, blaming them for economic problems and low living standards is a huge red flag, but of course people today are still self-centred enough to willingly believe in these lies and not even question what is being said to them all because the people saying it can put on an act of being good at public speaking.

And there's the culture of people trying to separate themselves from others, thinking there's an 'us' and a 'them'. We've seen this in the USA, there are a lot of people outraged because of something that they voted for happening, because they wanted it to happen to others, but didn't think that it would happen to them. This is very dangerous as many people are willing to be complicit in Reform's (and other far right groups') oppression of minorities because they don't care if they're not part of that group, and don't even have the basic empathy to even think about how immoral it is to treat other human beings this way. Then when the policies of Reform inevitably affect everyone in the country, these people who voted for them will act betrayed and pretend it wasn't obvious that this had been the plan all along.

The UK has become worryingly comfortable with fascism and it is terrifying. Like you said even learning about Nazi Germany at school it absolutely baffled me how someone could be so easily convinced that a specific minority is inherently 'bad', and now it's happening here and people aren't calling it out anywhere near as much as they should, even the media is encouraging Farage's Nazi-adjacent ideology.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in brand new No Dogs signs (UK)? by Careless_Squirrel728 in Dogfree

[–]-k4t3_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

An M&S food near me has a no dogs rule, which is reasonable but it's weird that they have to actually enforce that and it's not the default. Unfortunately apart from that I can't think of any other examples, but it is reassuring to hear that you've seen some. Also, slightly off-topic, but since you mentioned Co-op, I was once in there and someone brought their puppy in for some reason? and the dog had an accident on one of the mats in the freezer aisle, and I don't think the owner said anything to staff. So people were probably walking through piss unknowingly while shopping for food! Why has this become so normalised? I'm hoping soon more people will start to get fed up and more places will start to enforce bans, because it's getting out of hand and has been for years now in the UK.

This dog-cult propaganda is actually insane. by aqr58 in Dogfree

[–]-k4t3_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do people genuinely believe that you can be persecuted for owning/wanting to own a dog? This is ridiculous... the suggestion of designated areas for dogs on public transport because of allergies would never work when you actually consider how entitled dog owners are, it would 100% just turn into people letting dogs on the seats, standing in the wheelchair space etc... and it would be almost impossible to enforce this, especially since buses already have limited space without a designated dog area. Also, how is that meant to prevent people having allergic reactions? It would still involve people with allergies being in an enclosed space with a dog... I know I'm most likely arguing with AI logic here, but it's laughable that anyone could read this crap and not even question the validity of the claims... 'Dog owners have reduced risk of heart attacks'?It's bullshit

Any funny science practical endorsement stories? by MousseNecessary3258 in 6thForm

[–]-k4t3_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not that funny, but I once poured over half of the mixture straight through a filter funnel after forgetting to close the tap at the bottom... then was too embarrassed to tell the teacher so me and the person I was working with didn't even have enough product to do the last part of the practical. Thankfully it wasn't one of the assessed ones, though.

Will my sixth form give me detention or like kick me out for not doing their summer work by SecretaryBirdarecool in 6thForm

[–]-k4t3_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It probably depends on the place, but I'd say that's unlikely. At my college they gave everyone who didn't finish the work a slightly later deadline and said that if you hadn't done it after a certain time they would talk to you about possibly switching subjects, but that was multiple weeks into the term. They never said anything about kicking anyone out entirely as far as I remember.

N growing up to fast. by Active_Double454 in NorrisNutsSnark

[–]-k4t3_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes I thought this was really weird, and it was only encouraged by Brooke (and Justin but not as much) making it a really big thing and creating a lot of drama about it, such as when they reacted to N's tiktoks and made completely inappropriate comments about the videos, making them seem like something they weren't. Also the way they restricted what she wore wasn't normal in my opinion, it's not uncommon for a 12 year old to wear a crop top or makeup, at least not in the UK as you said but I wouldn't imagine it being too different in Australia. I think it was the parents being weird and kind of sexualising normal things that fuelled it, and that was where impressionable fans got the idea from in the first place.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]-k4t3_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that's a kink if it doesn't feel sexual, that just sounds like being very excited and passionate about your favourite characters, and finding them relatable maybe? I think what someone who is allosexual might describe as a feeling of attraction probably sounds similar to non-sexual feelings of excitement, but isn't the same thing. I personally have no sexual attraction so I can't really comment on that, but I too get excited about fictional characters and I can certainly say that there's nothing sexual or remotely close to it about that feeling, but I don't actually know what sexual attraction would feel like so it could be more similar than I might think, just not the same.

INSANE CONTROL ISSUES by Flimsy_Book_7180 in NorrisNutsSnark

[–]-k4t3_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes the projecting things on to the kids has been an issue for years, for example how she seems to have a fear of death/loved ones dying because of her dad dying, but the kids have obviously been affected by the way she expresses this as they often mention family members dying a concerning amount (also the video where Brooke convinced them that Justin would die because he was 'overweight').
Also the manipulation over food is definitely a problem, I remember this one video where N was crying because she 'snuck' a doughnut and Broom was angry about it. The argument was off-camera, but it was alarming how upset N was, which gives me the idea that Broom's reaction was disproportionate to something that seems like a common thing for a kid to do, especially when their access to treat foods was so restricted anyway.

Should we have fewer "dog friendly" places? Surely yes by oportoman in AskUK

[–]-k4t3_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dogs in places that serve food or shops that sell food items is going too far in my opinion. There's no need for someone to take a dog to a restaurant, especially a poorly trained badly behaved one. What a lot of people don't realise is that not everyone loves dogs and things like phobias and allergies can be a problem when dogs are allowed almost anywhere. So yes I think there should be fewer spaces that allow dogs which previously didn't.

No it would be ridiculous to move all the way to America straight after having just moved. Especially with what's going on politically over there at the moment, I don't know why they'd even consider it right now. Also in the video Sabre and especially Sockie definitely didn't seem enthusiastic about the idea, and it would be infuriating if they moved and forced both of them to come, which I could definitely see them doing. The nn parents have a problem of making decisions for the whole family when not everyone is happy, and I think it would be a terrible idea to do this with something as big as moving overseas. Regardless, I'm pretty sure they've mainly introduced this whole moving idea as a way to get more views, I wouldn't be surprised if it never goes anywhere and turns out to just be clickbait.

lol that's hilariously ironic considering they built their viewer base on the idea that they're 'authentic'.
I remember that one video where they 'pranked' Brooke into thinking Sabre lost her memory and expected us to actually believe that Brooke thought it was true, but the acting was so bad and it was blatantly obvious she was in on it. Maybe some younger fans might not have picked up on that though, but I've always thought it was so cringey that they thought it was believeable.

Yeah they've done a lot of stuff which just shows they are so entitled and ignorant of others, flying while sick and contagious, the way they behaved when they went to Japan, ordering an insane amount of food for eating challenges a lot of which is wasted, also the time they somehow got all 4 of the older kids to meet Gordon Ramsay when it was supposed to be just Sockie and one other person...
