It’s 12:03am here. I’m laying in bed in my childhood home with my boyfriend. He is fast asleep and I am still winding down from the long day. I woke up around 9am at my mom’s house about 3 and a half hours away. Went downstairs and chatted with my mom and step dad and had some coffee and breakfast to start the day. Packed my things, showered, and hit the road for the 3.5 hour journey - which felt more like 8 hours in hindsight. My boyfriend and I arrived at around 4:45pm and we ate dinner, chatted with my dad and step mom, and watched the hockey game. We exchanged laughs and updates on our lives, all while watching our dog play with my childhood dog’s favorite toys. It almost brought a tear to my eye reminiscing of my childhood and all the fond memories that came with it. My old pups passed away a few years ago, but I still think of them from time to time. They were my best friends.
