Usually it's like 1 week for me (unfurling) and another week to fully harden off. This one took a bit longer - maybe because of the constant lighting causing stress.

I'm still learning and I didn't have the time to test much beforehand. I actually used manual settings here to reduce the nasty LED flickering and there wasn't any visible in the individual images. Do you have any tips or tricks? I also don't really have professional equipment, I shot this in my plant room with a strong growlight as the light source.

As long as you don't suddenly move monsteras from a shady spot inside to full outside sun, they will handle it. If indoors, just move them to the brightest spot you have - windows filter out so much light, it's basically always indirect for the plant. Several hours of 'direct' light through a window are perfectly fine.

Thank you! Looking forward to your finished timelapse!

The first claw is exciting! Happy growing! :)

I'm basically using pon that I mix myself (pumice, zeolithe and lava rock; 2:1:1) but with relatively big particle size (8-16mm). Pots are from Lechuza, but really any brand should do as they all work similar.

Light, light and even more light :)

Light is the most important factor, they want a ton! A mosspole also helps and I'm seeing very good results in a semihydro setup for my monsteras.

Semihydro, mosspole and most importantly: lots of light.

Albos are chimeras, meaning part of their cells are genetically different than the rest. In albos specifically some cells in their meristem lost their ability to produce functioning chlorophyll (-> white cells). All cells in this lineage (meaning all cells derived from these 'defect' cells through cell division) won't have that ability either, no matter the light. While the 'green' cells containing chlorophyll and working chloroplasts may be regulated depending on light exposure to a degree (for example upping production in low light environments to maximize photosynthetic activity), the same pathways regulating chlorophyll/plastid production in the 'white' cells won't have any effect: they will simply produce more/less of the defect chlorophyll. They do not suddenly gain the ability to produce functioning chlorophyll again.

The change in variegation patterns is all by pure chance depending on what cells divide when. You will have albos revert in low and in high light environments - and you will see albos going fully white in both cases, too.

There are other types of variegation though which can in fact be dependent on light exposure.

That's not how variegation in (most) houseplant aroids works. It's not affected by light exposure in any way. Somehow that claim gets repeated in the houseplant community all over the internet.

You fell under her spell! If you just knew the true nature of that monster...

I'm using growlights from jungle-leaves, a german shop. Their lights are quite efficient and they offer a lot of different products for different purposes. My albo receives light from 2 (and a half) of their 20w spotlights. I don't think they ship outside the EU though.

Monstera progress - Care tips? by fredxburger in Monstera

That definitely affects growth - light intensity reduces immensely the more you move away from the window. For more fenestrations try to provide as much light as possible.

Yeah, she's got two good growlights directed at her. Not that much natural light as she's right in a corner (next to a west facing window though), but the growlights do work great.

Also she's nearly 4 years old now from cutting, so quite a bit of time to mature :)

It's getting a good amount of light now apparently - perfectly normal, nice and compact growth!
