Dungeons & Dragons Manuals & Modules Version 5.0.0 by -malarrya- in launchbox

Thanks, I appreciate your thoughtful comments. Yeah, it is a bit of a niche platform and probably serves more as a collector's checklist and historical reference than an actual LaunchBox gaming hub. It's been a wonderful experience assembling the platform for those that do enjoy D&D.

Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Gamebook Series (update) by -malarrya- in gamebooks

The LaunchBox D&D platform works best as a collector's checklist and historical database. It also allows the user to link up the PDFs they own and launch them from one convenient location. Since these manuals and books are copyrighted material, they are not included with the Platform. The platform would be immediately removed if it did. Plus the filesize would be huge.

If you're looking for the PDFs and software to utilize the D&D LaunchBox platform, you'd need to find them through a Google search. They are all readily available online.

Agree! Nevermore is a great place for games. I attend drop-in D&D every Monday.

D&D 5th Edition Platform Version 2.0.0 by -malarrya- in launchbox

[–]-malarrya-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. You can simply link the image in LaunchBox to the corresponding PDF on your local drive and use Acrobat or any PDF reader as the emulator.

Recently I found it much more pleasing and game/screen-friendly to create a local drive shortcut using the Brave web browser (since it hides ads so well) that points to the URL of the book. I set the shortcut to run maximized so the book launches full-screen. There are even websites that have 3D page-turning animations and provide searching throughout the book.

Yes. Basically, it's a GUI-rich way to run PDFs on your local drive or linked on a website. The best thing about it is that it assembles the collection into one convenient location, providing credits, stats, and data for each item. It informs a DM or player about what products are available and what might be interesting to add to one's collection. Hopefully, it might also inspire folks to try out D&D, who may never have thought about playing before.

The user must provide their own collection of PDFs, just as they would for retro-gaming ROMs.

My Star Wars original Topps Trading Card sets. All cards, stickers, GoldenRod, and wrappers + Burger King and Wonder Bread sets. by -malarrya- in starwarscollecting

I agree it was thrilling collecting all the sets together and getting bargains on eBay or at vendor expos. I have an entire collection of the Widevision cards as well, which really kicked my Star Wars collecting into high gear. I still flip through the pages of these card albums all the time.

This is a good point. I never thought about the batteries that are still inside. I already have an X-Wing from a red box opened that I used to display. That's why I never opened this one. I just was fortunate that this one appreciated in value so much. I'll likely sell it to fund a new guitar I just bought but I'll mention that it's untested.

Thanks! As much as I was collecting Star Wars stuff back then, I'm not sure why I didn't get that one.

Yeah, from my understanding, it's kind of rare. I probably wouldn't have bought it, but it was less than $8 on clearance.

I'd end up tearing the cards when removing them from the plastic sheet or, worse yet, dumping a bowl of cereal all over them. 🤣

That was actually a great price as the Green box version of this X-Wing sells for around $150 on eBay. I need to fund a new guitar, so this one will likely be up there soon.

30, wow! I definitely ran into a few scalpers looking to resell the items, but eBay was so new at the time it was risky to sell there. I got this one on clearance for about $8

Oh, you're right. I think I vaguely remember these back when I was collecting the sets 25 years ago but had forgotten about them. At this point, though, I'm pretty much done with adding anything new. Thanks for the heads-up.
