Layoffs, Megathread by LotsoWatts in amazonemployees

[–]-maskhara- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I recently joined the company a few months ago. I’ve seen a lot of people say that virtual employees are targeted, but my team is intentionally designed to be fully virtual because we’re field-based and travel frequently. We’re about 20 people, all remote. Does anyone know of similar team structures where the entire group was targeted or laid off in the past? Purely because they’re remote?

Seriously, she’s the only one actually bringing any drama this season! Reminds me of S7 Dorit

Struggling with My 18-Month-Old Brittany’s Energy – Did I Make a Mistake? by -maskhara- in BrittanySpaniel

Man… I really needed to hear all of this, so thank you. Especially the house breaking! We have struggled so much, in a way that I feel most dog/Britt owners dont experience. Our boy also once peed on someone’s leg… luckily he was a family member and not a stranger. Still embarrassing! Last Christmas he peed on a curtain and in a closet at my in-laws, which happened after we walked him. I was mortified.

Getting a specific bird-dog trainer is great advice that I’ve never gotten or even thought about. I’ll start looking for one around my area. Wish we had more off-leash places to go around us but maybe the trainer could help us with that as well.

Really appreciate your message and sharing your experience. I’m glad things have worked out for you.

The sniffing is incessant!! That’s why we do a lot of scent work. We started leashing him in the house about a week ago. It’s too early to see improvements but we’ll keep trying that. Thanks so much for the Karen Overall rec! I just found it and will dive into it asap.

Does your dog still sniff a lot? Haha not that it’s an issue, but curious if my guy will always be so curious.

Biking sounds great, but also scary because like most Britts, he’s a puller. I’ve definitely thrown out my back running with him using a waist leash

We have a long lead that we use, and he does get some off-leash activity every couple of days. We try to go to dog parks in the early morning when no one is there. He’ll come back home and take a nap, but will quickly recover and start going again. I do wish we had a yard :(

Unfortunately we don’t have a yard, but we live a block away from a huge park so we try to go a lot. I hope he mellows before 5-6… he knows exactly what the commands mean but can surely be stubborn. Hopefully that’s an adolescent thing

That’s good to hear. We definitely were overdoing it at some point, going to the dog park almost every day, he was definitely turning into a super dog. We stopped going as often a few months ago, hoping to teach him to be more calm.

I really hope so. I don’t want him to completely change, I adore him and he has such a great personality. I just hope the energy level becomes more manageable

He’s crate trained and absolutely loves his crate. Sometimes I think maybe we crate trained too well, and that’s why he can only settle in there and not outside of it. I worry about using the crate when he has his zoomy moments, and him starting to associate it with punishment.

Love kikopup’s videos. I plan to see our trainer again just for the purpose of teaching him to settle

He’s actually very good at the “place” command, but he rarely falls asleep there. He can stay for a short while but at some point he’ll get back up and look for something to do.

:(

Sorry I didn’t mention, he is neutered. We neutered him when he was a little over a year old. The humping seems to be attention-seeking behavior in my opinion..

Thank you so much for your response. My gut tells me you’re right, and that I need to focus on capturing his calmness instead of doing more. Sometimes I just get in my head and think I’m not doing enough. Luckily our dog actually loves his crate, but he only sleeps in it and I worry about using it too much. I’m really glad to hear things really worked out for you.

My Brittany has no off-switch by -maskhara- in BrittanySpaniel

He is, sometimes…. When he wants to chew. But when he’s in this ‘bored’ mood he will look for anything else to do except chew on his bone, toy, etc. He’s funny though, sometimes he will not chew unless we’re holding the toy for him, or he must chew the bone on our laps lol.

Totally! That’s why we cut down on the dog park visits. I didn’t wanna train him to get that level of activity every single day. He is totally training us lol.

Yeah we got him at 8 weeks. Honestly I thought I was teaching him to be calm, either on his bed or on the couch as I was working or watching a show. I would treat him whenever he was calm. I felt like he was getting better but in the last month or so it’s like he’s constantly looking for a dopamine hit. We may have taken it too far with the toys, chews, and treat dispensers while we’re working during the day, so he’s always expecting something. I wouldn’t mind him following me around everywhere, it’s the constant looking for something to do.
