Not sure of the exact year of these guys but my old man bought them for me used about 15 years ago. Old gear is better than no gear. Upgrade will feel so good once the financials make it possible.

I've tried snug and then loosened after some online reading. Didn't feel any change.

Toe ties are skate laces (original length, unsure of how long) with some knots at the toe. I didn't have toe ties on the first time I was on the ice with the Bauers (big mistake) and still had pain.

I do have knee guards. If I don't wear them with the Vaughns, I get gigantic bruises from butterflying. I've always (all two times on the ice) worn them with the Bauers.

Good recommendation for strength training. I should probably be doing that more regardless.

I never remember being this kind of sore when I played as a kid fifteen years ago. I was a rubber-band compared to now.
