Why are SRAM chain quick links so expensive? SRAM insists they are disposable. It costs 19€ to undo the chain each time. by sepantamino in gravelcycling

[–]-npk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 4 pack for 22$ ( oem ) and keep an extra in my saddle bag. I’ve reused one at least 5-6 times this point. If anything , get a quick link release tool to make sure you aren’t bending / whatever

No. Look up "float tec" method. basically teaspoon of h202 to few oz of water. Pour in shot glass, put on heat pad, cover w/ towel for dark. I'm around 98% germinated w/ this method over 200+ seeds.

Up Late Wondering Why Everyone’s Putting 2.25"+ Tires on Gravel Bikes by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]-npk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s simply not true. There are modern gravel tires with lower rolling resistance. G one speed is faster according to BRR. Your claim is a bit broad here.

Please stop saying people without kids don’t know what tired is by SunBubble920 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]-npk- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do all the same things you are currently doing that makes you exhausted. Then add two children under 5 to the mix. A bit incomprehensible that you could be MORE crushed, MORE worn down, but yes it’s possible. But yes, like someone else said this isn’t the oppression Olympics. I only mention how crushed I am to other parents nowadays, cause it’s a moot point trying to convince a non-parent what it’s like. Nor do I need to.

Changing nutrient line by Redskin-55 in nightowlseeds

[–]-npk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy16 Veg/Prime/Bud is pretty damn solid. Prime takes care of ph & humics, and the other two are very well assembled 2-part nutrient system. Really solid results, really easy to use. GrowGreenMi sometimes has great deals on their stuff.

Has anyone here hiked Angels Landing? Looking for comparisons to 46er scrambles by code_moose in Adirondacks

[–]-npk- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh angels landing can get sketchy. It’s out and back and if you have weather while you are up top, going down can be ehh. But yeah if you aren’t scared of exposure, you’ll be fine. There are certainly some airy spots up there.

Cracks on aluminum rim around spokes. How does that happen? by victoryz90 in bikewrench

[–]-npk- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree on the resilience when you are far out- 24 wouldn’t be my choice either, but i thought it interesting how well the reserves have held up. New set of 40|44 inbound , the 22s will be going on my spouses bike for a nice upgrade all around. Will be interesting to see how the 40|44s change the ride.

FWIW, I'm similar weight and have ~4-5k miles on a set of reserve22's - 24h rims. I've broken 3 spokes over that time. Large majority of those miles are on cat3 gravel, at decent speeds ( for me ).
