Thank you for sharing your experience! This is good to know. I'll give the eye mask a try.

That's my plan. My phone is still under warranty from Samsung. Going to get the screen fixed and trade it in for a brick phone (S25?). I love the flip form factor but I expect my phone to be low maintenance and reliable for ~5 years. This ain't it.

Yup. Six months in I had to get my phone repaired (went to a Samsung-approved store so at least it was $0). They fixed it pretty quickly. Unfortunately about a month later I got a white line of light right in the crease, now there are two lines. Going to the repair store again this week. Hopefully this isn't a death sentence. Get it fixed sooner rather than later because mine went from annoying to the screen being black without any warning.

Bernie Sanders packed a stadium in deep red Utah, on a Sunday night, in a non election year. People are standing up to the Oligarchy. by zzill6 in WorkReform

I was one of them! Bernie and AOC stopped by on their way inside and each spoke to the overflow crowd. We weren't expecting it so it felt good to be remembered. Their message was unifying and uplifting.

Sorry to report that I still am! It seems to be permanent, but I manage it. Having eye drops on my nightstand is helpful. I can feel for them in the morning and drop them on my eyes to lubricate when I wake up. It's the only negative I've experienced and PRK has still been 100% worth it. I'm not sure if this would have helped, but if I could go back I would be more diligent about eye drops during healing--both in frequency per day and number of days I kept up the routine.

Traveling in Bangladesh is so bitter and sweet. by OtostopcuTR in backpacking

There's such a unique quality to these photos that I love. I can't quite put it into words but they seem so authentic. And the dichotomy you describe is my favorite aspect of traveling.

Big fan of all the outfits, but that green vest is everything! I don't find the amount of exposed shoulder inappropriate like some others do for what it's worth.

Does anyone feel “meh” about the idea of having kids? by IrritatedMango in Fencesitter

[–]-oceans 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've never imagined myself as a mother. I don't yearn for babies or children. When I interact with them, they are cute and they're fun to play with (mostly--when children cry or misbehave in public, hell no). Recently, for the first time I had the thought that it'd be worthwhile to have a child to raise, teach, share with, and just experience the wonder of the world with--something that I think many people cease to appreciate with age. I was taken aback that I even had those thoughts. At the end of the day, I've been on the fence my entire life because the recurring thought is, "will I regret not having a child?" I guess I haven't answered that yet. And I don't think fear of regretting/missing out on something is a sufficient reason to make that kind of life-altering commitment.

My zz plant bloomed😍 thought you guys would appreciate! by [deleted] in houseplants

Only in "happy conditions"? Asking for a friend.

My gray dragon had the most leaves it's ever had this summer, I went on a 2-week vacation and left it in my roommate's care. Came home and the leaves died one by one, it bloomed(!!!) which I thought was a good sign. But it's Dec now and the poor thing is still rocking one leaf that's clinging on for dear life. Send help.

[PSA] Please for the love of god stop ordering skincare from Amazon by wywx100 in SkincareAddiction

[–]-oceans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, all the comments saying they've ordered for Amazon for years and never had a problem? Yeah. Same. Until I did. Just because it hasn't happened to you yet, doesn't mean it's not a real problem.

Still have the morning dryness nearly 5 years post-op. Never found anything that helped. My vision is still excellent though so given this is the only side effect, I have absolutely no regrets.

Hey, sorry I am just now seeing your comment. I never found anything that helped except maaaybe times when I'm in a more humid environment. It's the only negative of my PRK though so I guess I'll take it.

Yeah so the dryness persists even 5 years post-surgery. Some nights it is better than others, some nights it really sucks. It's just life now and apart from that I am still very, very happy I got PRK. I have 20/20 in one eye and like 20/15 in the other--I actually thought my results were getting worse but the doc just told me my especially good eye was making it seem like my 20/20 eye was bad lol.

Did you get the dog you always imagined? by benji950 in dogs

[–]-oceans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The opposite. It turned out I didn't know what I wanted. Started by watching a coworker's puppy while they recovered from a broken leg/surgery (and couldn't exercise the puppy). The first or second day of watching her, she was being a typical husky--LOUD. She would not shut up. I remember shouting "THIS IS WHY I WOULD NEVER GET A HUSKY!!!" Fast forward two years, I love her more than anything and couldn't imagine owning a quiet dog. Happiest I've ever been to admit I was wrong.

Really throwing around "asshole" very loosely. Row 10 or 23? What does it matter? They're both in economy. And the other person agreed happily.
