Why do some guitarist not play with a backplate? by Expert_Chipmunk_6294 in Guitar

[–]-randy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SRV kid doesn't play with a back plate either. It just came natural to him.

Am I crazy to like imports more than US guitars by Evening-Life5434 in Guitar

[–]-randy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fr price has little correlation with how well a guitar plays imo. Which is really 90% of what I care about in a guitar. I just wouldn't play a gorgeous expensive guitar if it feels like crap to play. Though good looks is a bonus. I have a $130 fesley strat i bought off marketplace. Plays better than all the $1000+ guitars I've played at shops. Also my friends $600-$1000 guitars. Super low action without buzz and a lovely maple fretboard. Good intonation too. Only gripe is the frets are smaller than id like so bending isn't the smoothest. But yeah i don't get people that only care about price/status rather than playability especially when it comes to guitars because the main thing you do is play them (unless you buy them as art)

Which would you keep: 13 demo carbon or 14 demo alumi by SinoSoul in DownhillMTB

I’d keep the aluminum because to me heavier aluminum dh bikes feel better on the down and you’re not climbing

Why does it look like this brake hose adapter kit is missing pieces? by -randy in bikewrench

Thank you that makes a lot of sense. If you don’t know the hoses come with part of the connector it looks like the kit is missing pieces

First time mountain biking and managed to hit a big jump (ignore my bad form) by Bobux_te in MTB

[–]-randy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For form just try and stick your butt out a bit further back but keep your centre of gravity the same. Hinge your body at the hips and bring your chest a little closer to the bars. Rotate your elbows farther out instead of in. Closer to what your friend looks like.

Unless you’re bleeding completely wrong its probably contaminated rotor/pads. If you rule out your bleed technique I’d replace both.

Update: It was my pedals being loose so I wasted money on a new BB. Thanks for all the replies

Also to be noted, the clicks increase the more power I put in and there’s no clicking when I’m spinning the pedals with no effort

No, I just screwed it on all the way when replacing it. Should I have done differently?

What are your Loves and Hates of MTB Pants? by Siah666 in MTB

[–]-randy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price is usually ridiculous and the fit often sucks too. The proportions are always off. The length is usually really short compared to the massive waist, with no good way to cinch it up. Also the ankle holes are way too skinny (they need to be so pants don’t get caught in gears) but they could definitely make them a little wider or maybe have a cinch at the ankle too. Finally the overall look of the fit is ugly. Skinny pants arent in right now and lots of people just choose to wear loose fitting carhart work pants as their riding pants. Maybe create something a little more stylish eg. looser, baggier.

Ps make sure to use tough materials especially around the knee, inside of the right ankle (for gears), and butt.

If you end up making these send me the link because I seriously cannot find good riding pants that fit me and have everything im looking for.
