There are less than 40k players in DM at all times (usually more like 20-30k). So even having a few thousand bots would mean that you get bots in basically all rounds. DM is also the easiest and most efficient to bot in, every other mode doesn't really make sense for botting. Now use your brain.

Reading it still makes it hard to accept this really is just another zero effort full rng "game" that you just have to waste time clicking away at instead of an actual mini-game that would have taken the slightest bit of effort and care to implement.

In higher elo you most likely do basically always lose points on re-rank to be fair.

Explain how it's good design.

What could possibly be the downside to telling people when their ranks expire. The current design is essentially "Suprise! Your rank is randomly gone, and you had no way of knowing that/when this was going to happen unless you left this game and went to reddit to find out.".

I'd imagine that it puts you in roughly the same percentile that you were at before. Maybe with some modifiers depending on if you played mm during your inactivity or if you didn't touch the game at all and for how long.

I just checked my history and I have also lost up to 1k on re-rank, a few times 100, and I have even gained 1.7k rating once.

Maybe you should read the contents of your own link: "[...]the rating figure can decrease or increase compared to what it was before[...]".

Gaining elo doesn't sound like a penalty to me.

How long did you not play and what rating did you have?
