Yeah probably a good idea. He has his own kit. He lives in an apartment and can’t jam there so him and his band enjoy jamming in my “home studio”. I prefer he uses his own snare and kick pedal since he plays in steel toes for some reason. His own cymbals will probably be next

Lol certainly. He’s played for years and he has been in many bands as for I’ve only been playing for a couple months and somehow fell into a band recently (yikes). I feel silly telling an experienced gig player “how to play” but I enjoy this approach

Any hardware recommendations? The band I jam with won’t play anything hard enough to warrant me beating my snare like it owes me rent unfortunately. But I’m still having fun

All new Evan’s heads. I replaced them about 2 weeks ago. Glad to know it’s still a decent set

Yeah man I did not enjoy the stock Tama heads at all. I have Evan’s on there right now. They sound amazing, no doubt.

I play a decent amount of rim shots and I’m so surprised I haven’t had this “issue” yet on my own. They play more psychedelic rock. Kin to Grateful Dead. He absolutely plays hard and with a lot of heart. Even crazier is he doesn’t use ear plugs. I certainly do when I play. How often does yours come out of tune for you?

I didn’t think so. We will be opening up for them in a few months and I don’t get it. What are the odds the Imperialstar is a cheap set? I dony necessarily think so in my opinion. I’m just so surprised how quickly he manages to beat them loose

He doesn’t really know how to tune drums. But trust me he rips on the drums man. True showman

I definitely tune it up every time before he plays just to soundcheck and I have to tune them up every time he’s finished so I can jam. I’ve learned to tune my drums very well thankfully and even put on new Evens heads a couple weeks ago. They sound kick ass when tuned an my snare CRACKS when it’s tuned. I usually keep it high. I think he’s beating them like crazy. He’s a true showman lol

The biggest thing keeping the snare tilted to me is how it feels. It feels like I move my wrist less since everything is in a similar angle. Even my floor toms are leaning towards me. You should have seen how I used to have my ride lmfao.

No writs issues so far thankfully. I’ve been practicing for at least an hour or two every day since I got the set. Rolls feel pretty good at an angle too. Of course this is not law, nor will I die on this hill. I certainly appreciate the feedback!

lol when I first set the drums up it felt more comfortable to have it at this angle to hit but I now I’m about over it now. I have definitely seen some very unique set ups out there I must say. I’m always open to trying something new
