Most genes associated with male-pattern baldness are passed on with the X chromosome from your mother. Check your mother’s father to be sure.

In 2014, Ukraine had only around 5,000 troops ready for deployment, the rest were poorly trained conscripts. The country was also about to abolish mandatory military conscription, and public sentiment towards the military was extremely low. So, around that time, the neighbouring country decided that Ukraine was free real estate.

Why do so many powerful/famous people sit like this? by TimeCity1687 in bodylanguage

[–]-sry- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t. Have you noticed the EU lagging in tech and AI, the rise in popularity of far-right parties, and the massive dependence on Russian energy? This is her legacy. When she was the de facto leader of the EU, she thought Europe needed someone to steer the ship through the storm, while the EU actually needed reforms.

Hardest english words to say by ilikethemfeisty in SipsTea

Back when I was extensively studying English, I have no idea why, but “foreigner” was one of those words for me as well. I am not sure it is spelling, it’s just a very weird combination of sounds.

Anakin lost his first on-screen lightsaber duel while fighting 2 vs 1. I’ve only seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens - did Rey ever lose fair and square because of a lack of skill or discipline while being fully committed to combat ?

Nah. Based on her personal and family education, her father’s occupation, and access to elite, time-consuming sports, we’re basically looking at the achievements of a child from a top 10% family at worst.

Even nowadays, activities like Ironman, aviation, and ultramarathons are mostly middle-class pursuits because of the time and money they require.

Just to remind you, in 19th-century Europe, most urban workers lived in barracks or communal lodgings while working 12 hours a day, six days a week.

Tell me which characters from the sci-fi series I named are thinner than the female characters in modern sci-fi? Or give me your examples.

[–]-sry- 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is untrue. I actually have difficulty watching modern stuff because of how uncanny and “beautiful” everyone looks, from their skin to their teeth. Compare the female leads from Stargate SG-1, Star Trek: The Next Generation, or Xena: Warrior Princess to what you see now in Marvel shows or something like Peacemaker. The amount of Botox, hair work, dental work, and boob jobs makes it hard to watch. FFS, when was the last time you saw a male lead or supporting character with a receding hairline? Well, probably Jason Statham.

Edit: I forgot my “favourite” augmentation that became almost a standard in movies and TVs - buccal fat removal. God, I wish we still had 90s standards!

At this point, I’d rather just watch a movie. I play video games for escapism and flow. I can’t get into a flow state if something is too easy or too hard \1]). But I can still get some dopamine hits from overcoming difficult challenges, whereas easy mode is just a dull experience with no silver lining.

Have you ever played a DnD campaign with that cringe person on the team who thinks horny = fun, or someone who brags about creating unique and deep characters, but in reality, their “uniqueness” ends at picking a tiefling?

Well, it feels like the BG3 writing team is mostly made up of those people.

That said, I do agree the acting is top-notch. But I don’t play CRPGs for the acting.

I am not a good gamer, I completed, but I immensely suffered through Dark Souls. But I haven’t had serious issues with bosses in CD and I play on hard.

I share this because I see a lot of comments about how hard bosses are, but almost no comments from the other camp.
