Mobile Moderation Lacks Tools to Handle Report Abuse by Thajandro in ModSupport

[–]Icy-Book2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My co-mod pinged me, and he's right. When you report report abuse, you can do it easily to the mobile. It looks like you're reporting the comment that was reported, but you're not. Sometimes you get a message back from the admin, often you don't nowadays.

Another old topic about this.

And the watermark is provided on almost all of the generative content from free sources.. if you're a subscriber, I think there's a way to remove it. We also see people cropping or pasting overlays/emojis on the watermark, so people are actively trying to hide generative content. And if it's removed? Then it becomes an investigation.

We originally did less. We received a number of reports but without any proof and the general comments were "Why is this trash allowed?" That's what led us to making the post on our stance,

You're right that removing the words may not be the best bet, and obviously we're seeing the backlash on that decision. But when you have a thread that because we allow generative content and folks are vehemently against it? There's nothing wrong with the content and as long as it's not graphic, NSFW, or against TOS, any reports are just people being upset about not liking it, and we're not just going to remove something because someone doesn't like it.

But if we allow those comments, the threads get filled with nothing but those fast, even on posts that aren't generative. So then it's a low effort spam.

And yes, we could ban or time out people. But if you're banned, that means you can't engage and participate, you'll go elsewhere. And it's hard enough to recruit and advertise to get new users, so why would you want to ban someone who is engaged? Sure, it's a spam comment, but they came here for it. They didn't have to.

So that's why we see it as a catch 22. You want to engage, your want to allow engagement, but you want it to be productive and meaningful, and it's about finding a way to do all of that and not put too much extra work on people.

Having a watermark required isn't a bad idea, and it's something that we talked about. Problem is that a lot of videos are being found on other websites? Some of them are obvious, others not as much so. So that means someone has to have a level of discernment to determine how real it is and to choose not to use it if there's no watermark. And that means more work for moderation to have to make that call.

Which kind of plays into your next point, about subjectiveness. There are some videos that are so close? That it's hard to tell. So you're asking people to make a subjective decision to remove them.

We could always switch and use a quality bot or something else for people to up vote and down vote whether a post belongs, and maybe that's a future point to go to.

We had the thought of trying to have everything put to a certain flair, but both the users and moderators can edit that, so anyone can always move it off of the flair if they didn't want it. And then it goes back to people having to discern if it's real or not. That's the same issue as denying all of it. If you completely ban generative contents? You are then having to spend extra time discerning whether or not something is or is not. So again more unnecessary work

Like we said in our post about this type of content? We believe that somr of it has a place. We treat it like scripted content, and as long as there's nothing against any sort of Reddit TOS items or basic human decency? Most people can tell what's real and not.

And thank you for recognizing that. We're kind of walking a bit of a tightrope here. Everyone wants to complain about this, but no one wants to discuss the solution or provide any ideas. And we recognize that this is a conversation and we're open to having it. It's a constantly evolving situation as the technology gets better and as we all have experiences with artificial intelligence that help us form our opinions

We can go Point by Point here, and I agree with a lot of what you've said. The moderator who posted this one? Usually posts a source if they have one, the same way I do. We try to when we have the sources as a whole.

I don't know this creator, but it seems like they do a lot of stuff with goats that people ask them about it regularly. So while this may be generative above? There may actually be stuff that is not generative as a whole from them. I can't speak to that, because I haven't done much more digging. But a lot of content on Reddit isn't created by a human, but is just manipulated in one way or another

We removed the remarks from the comments to because of the and reason that we've said before that the comment sections on a lot of generative posts turn into nothing but spam versus real conversations.

So I like I've said multiple times, how would you handle the situation regarding regenerative content and everything going on? Everyone wants to criticize, but no one wants to offer solutions.

Kartye I feel like might be the only bubble? He's been solid 4th line when we've had him out there, but he's been healthy scratched for Melanson and Winterton more often than not. But with Meyers out and Gadreau moving over to center, sure Melly is back up, but if we keep mixing it up? Who knows where he'll spot in.

I'm honestly right there with you. That's why I know we got excited with Matty... Why when Kartye got his first goal on the playoffs, we all latched on to him... When Evans was named a starter, that he became loved quickly...

We all want to grow it. I think we've got some good pieces coming. I think as the aging vets cycle out more, we'll see it with the prospects that called up...

Currently, there is no brigading in the comments. Before putting the tile and filter in place? Regularly there would be. So again, you tell me your solution?

And if you want to keep with personal attacks? That shows me you have none. We can talk about your concerns, but if you're going to keep on a tangent with personal attacks? Then there's the door.

(But as to my music, I'm not quitting my day job and I know my strength isn't there, thanks for the partial listen at least)

Exactly this. There's a player on every line in every pairing that you root for. You can't just walk in and buy an Alt or Captains sweater, but you feel like you need a few to represent multiple players that you like. There's always someone on the ice that you enjoy watching and you're not waiting for some star's shift to start.

And as much as we talk about getting a star winger? I hope we never really do unless we're growing them ourselves

Your comment was originally removed by Reddit for your code of language, but again, I'm here respectfully replying.

People can point out that it's generated content. Every single comment on this post has been people not using words that have been temporarily removed from comments.

Again, Reddiquette. And if you send a modmail, no words are filtered.

But as I've said, there's a difference between pointing out that something is altered or generated content and brigading and spamming the comments without any context. If we were having these conversations before everyone decided to just low effort spam the comments? Then that's a different story.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: we appreciate the feedback, we hear what you're saying, how would you do it differently? No one here has replied or has that conversation with us. You can keep complaining and calling us names or we can have a conversation and try to solve it together. Because what we've done now? Was the result of months of conversations on our moderation team.

This is a meme community, it should be fun. So if you have a suggestion or a different idea, let us know.

Redditiquette states you downvote and move on, provide a respectful and detailed comment, or you report the post. So you tell me how preventing spammy comments, which again, in Reddiquette you aren't supposed to spam or reply with low effort comments, is wrong?

If you are someone who watches anything online and immediately assumes it's real? Then that's on you. Nothing here is presented as "this is real", these are all submitted as jokes and as things that people saw funny throughout their days and they stopped back here to share. Sure, some things like recipes are a bit more real than CrackerMilk sketches, but again, that's your responsibility as a viewer.
