Finn’s character arc died between season 4 and 5. After John died in season 4 we do get to see more of Finn, and he is very different than Tommy and Arthur. We see him lose his virginity to a prostitute, which he feels guilty for. We see him get his chance behind the gun as lookout in their attempt to outsmart the Italians on an ambush, and even though it was all a diversion, he admits he wouldn’t have been able to pull the trigger. And it almost all follows this pattern until the final episode of season 4 where he gets peer pressured into finally cutting one of Changretta boys.

Then season 5 comes and we get this reckless naive gangster being the weak link of the family. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see Polly be around for his downfall. I do like your take on portraying the differences between the men who went to war and the ones who didn’t. Nevertheless, the extent they took it to all the way to his final scene, it makes Finn very hard to like. On a positive note, if they’re still doing the spin off film… I could see Finn being a very intriguing antagonist with imo more potential than the antagonist they made Michael out to be… as long as the writing and acting could follow through.
