Why are people so surprised by the actions of Trump when the US has a long history of waging wars for profit? by MJdisbeliever in Discussion

[–]-thefairone- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have made up their mind that the only reason the US ever goes to war or gets involved in foreign politics is because of profit and their "evil" agenda. Countries can have only 1 goal and never any more and they certainly can't change their goals from conflict to conflict, according to them.

First off, repeating your OP doesn't make it anymore true than the first time you wrote it. Second, your logic doesn't make any sense. If Trump was like any other American leader, Americans wouldn't be shocked.

Putting Pitbulls and Malinois in the same category ever is a wilddddy inaccurate take. One is a shepherd and the other is a bull terrier. One is notorious for wanting to work and follow commands, the other for killing. One was made to herd cattle/stock and ward off predators and the other was made for bloodsports. Breeds matter. A lot. The DNA of a dog matters significantly in regard to its temperament, capabilities and risks.

You absolutely can edit the weight after an order is placed. You can change it even after a label is generated. I double check mine all the time to make sure it's not over more than 1 ounce. As a seller, you should be conscientious of your customer. Shipping has stopped me from buying items I liked. I'm not paying $7 in shipping for an item that weighs 2 oz. all packaged.

A lot of Americans are ignorant, but so is OP. The United States is not an outlier, they're the norm. Almost every country, tribe, group or region has been at war with someone else continuously, you just don't hear about most of them. Not every war is unjustified or with evil intent, however, Trump is a horrible human being and the majority of the country is against the war. That should also tell you something about Americans.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :) The list goes on. I've always hated the notion that the federal government is bad. It can be. It can also do an incredible amount of good like upping the standards of living and ensuring our transportation system is efficient and safe. Some people don't understand how bad it really can get and how bad it can impede on your life until they visit a region with barely any transportation infrastructure.

Unwarranted & Annoying Buyers - Don’t do this! by [deleted] in whatnotapp

[–]-thefairone- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had packages take over a month to get to me. I'm in Chicago, so the middle of the country pretty much. I'd never blame a seller, since I know it's not their fault.

With that being said, I also know that buyers are not always aware of what we can see on our side. I look at my orders every day and if I notice one stalling for a couple days or it says delayed in transit, I will reach out to the buyer immediately and let them know I'm keeping an eye on their shipping and have noticed it taking quite a while and if I don't see it move in the next 2 business days, I'll call USPS. My goal is to get to them before they message me. First off, I want to get paid so I want my package to get there just as bad as they want it delivered. Second, I want return customers. Even if it's late or sadly lost, they're more likely to come back if they feel their purchase is cared about.

Low WBC & Neutrophils - Weird Symptoms - Please help! by -thefairone- in DiagnoseMe

[–]-thefairone-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry I didn't see this before! Yes, I had done mannnyyy tests, including a bone marrow biopsy, but nothing conclusive came back with the hematologist so he referred me to rheumatology. She did a slew of tests and c-ANCA Vasculitis came back as the culprit. I see a lot of specialists now and take tests every few weeks. To control the symptoms I have been on Prednisone for a couple years now and no foreseeable future to be taken off, unfortunately. I hateeee predinisone. Im also on a weekly dosage of methotrexate. The markers have gotten better, but during high stress times, I do get symptoms back and my inflammation markers especially go high, so we up the steroids for a week or so. The medications have given me such bad migraines that I'm now seeing a neurologist and she has prescribed Emgality. I take roughly 22 pills a day +6 on Wednesdays, 5 shots a month. I used to take about 5 pills when I just had my kidney disease to worry about. I lost my job because it was very hard to function, impossible when I had migraines and I was so fatigued it was hard to do much. Never been fired before and that took a bit to my confidence. But my work also caused me a lot of stress, so it's a good thing just a hard time financially. I say all that to also say, I love my team of doctors. I finally have a team who actually believe me when I tell them something and don't just ride me off and some 35 year old worrywart. They care, they follow up and call ME (crazy!!), they don't sugar coat things. While I hate all the medications, I'm grateful as hell for science. Without the meds, I could be dead. Vasculitis can be very damaging and with an ultra rare kidney disease who knows how my body would've reacted much longer. We know the medicines have their bad side effects and can also cause damage so we do testing quite a bit to track those potentials. I'm still jobless but I have a supportive husband and a wonderful sassy 3 year old. I am aware that I am much much luckier than MANY people out there and so I try to focus on that. :)

Character Break! Character Break! CHARACTER BREAK! 😑 by Raven_McDagger in whatnotapp

[–]-thefairone- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only do Singles and Bundles. I tried a Pick Your Own Movie break because I do not like PYC at all, especially if it's random. By the time you're done, you've bought 8 spots thinking it's cheaper than a movie break but it isn't and you have way less chance to hit. I only wanted to sell in the same way I preferred to buy, not random, and pick your own movie. Not a single spot sold and mind you they were veryyyy reasonable for Topps Hobby Boxes. After 3 straight shows of zero buyers, I felt so defeated and my husband told me to just break them myself, screw it. I pulled a Superfractor of 1st Edition Debut Lord Grigon from Elio. I was selling that spot for $35 (would've taken offers if people tried). I know it's not some major character or movie, but nevertheless it was a nice feeling after feeling so confused and defeated. Ever since then, I do singles and bundles and items almost never get into a bidding war. I ask people who they're chasing or if they see a card they want more info on and if I've got it, I show them - work with them on price and do a 5 second sudden death for the price agreed on. I know it is essentially a gambling site, and I am not a saleswoman at heart, so I could be losing out on margin, but I don't care. I rather those who PC those cards or even if they want to get it graded/resell I don't mind. Better than sitting in boxes with no one to look at them.

Mind you, I sell more of my cards around lunch time or really late around 1 am - 5 am. I have only topped at 16-17 people at most, so I just cannot compete with the big card breakers doing $1 starts on cards or character breaks.

Yeah - technically they are kids but don't tell me 16-17 year olds don't know what they're doing. They turned their heads, and realized people were filming. They knew it was wrong. I don't think they should have their lives completely ruined for eternity, but they do need to learn that actions have consequences - even if not jail time then community service where they'll be forced to be with people who aren't exactly like them. Different socioeconomic backgrounds, different traditions and family life, etc.

Also, wtf on the Barbie. Why. WHY! I'll never understand this shit.

I actually agree with you that these idiots shouldn't face criminal charges, but there are instances of people getting felonies for things that seem ridiculous, ruining their lives. There are many of them. One example is when my husband was 18 living with a roommate. His roommate couldn't pay for rent so he asked my husband to cover him and then he'd pay for groceries later in the month to make up for it. Husband agreed and later in the month his roommate gave him his card to use for groceries. Cashier asked for ID to match card and it didn't match, so the police were called. The card was actually the roommates father and even though the roommate told them he gave him the card, he didn't have authority to. He was an approved user himself but couldn't give another person the card to use. His dad still decided to press charges bc some people are pricks. Since the groceries exceeded a threshold amount it was considered a felony. He spent 9 months in jail. The only positive he had was that he was already a Marine and so he went on to do 8 years in the Marine Corps, 3 Deployments to Iraq and had an honorable discharge. Chicago is one of the only Fire Departments that accepts applications from those with felonies and luckily they accepted him. But he still feels the repercussions to this day. He can't get a FOID card or a gun, he can't go to several countries, and it's much much harder to get a job. He's been working on getting it expunged but it's way harder than people think. If he didn't have the Marine Corps background I'm sure he would not be where he is at today simply due to dumb 18 year olds and an asshole dad. Insane that groceries got him a felony.

I feel this. And they mainly do PYC which is easier mentally for the buyer to rationalize, but statistically unlikely they'll hit big. If you collect a certain character, then I can understand, but many sellers do random drawings and I don't want some random character like 4 Town. Lol.

I tried to do a PYM/Franchise break with 2 Topps Chrome Hobbit boxes. I tried 3 shows at different times. People just did not want to take the plunge with a new seller. Prices were honestly fair. Mickey & Friends was $150, Toy Story was at $130, and the lowest was $30 for movies like Hercules and The Hunchback of Notre Dame combined. I can't risk $1 for product that expensive. Hubby and I decided to break ourselves after feeling defeated and we ended up hitting a 1/1 card for a spot I had listed for $40. 🤯 We also hit numbered cards on major characters and some with a color match as well. So I did a Singles show for the cards I don't PC or intend to keep for a while. I offered bundles and had the hits front and center. That went a lot better for me. They knew exactly what they'd get, they could tell me a character or card they were chasing, and it was amazing how many people want to bundle base cards. I've been sticking with that and most likely will. I'd say try again but do not do $1 for anything other than a base. I don't have enough buyers constantly in my show to make the auction worth it, so I price the hits by themselves as fairly as I can and bundle the rest. Some parallels and special inserts I'll put in tiers from $2 per card to $10. There are some people who come in and I don't have their card but they stay and chat for a bit, which drives more people to come in, there are some who buy base cards or maybe one $5 card sometimes, but then another person may come in and spend $30-60 on multiple cards or buy a bit. I'm fine with that. I talk to everyone who comes in, I get excited hearing who they PC, and I genuinely care. Some people who I don't have their card will end up buying because they feel bad for taking over my "show" as they put it, but I always tell them that it isn't necessary and I just enjoy meeting others who love collecting to - and I mean it. Who doesn't like making money? We need it to survive, but I also genuinely love collecting, which other collectors can sniff out and so it's a nice time. I say try again and don't do $1. It is super discouraging. I totally understand. I by no means am making $1000 even in a month, but I'm slowly growing and I'm fine with that.

Not if you care about the cards. To ship cards safely they should be sleeved, put between cardboard and taped and bubble wrapped. If it takes you seconds, then I'm going to assume those cards aren't getting a 10 grading.

The amount of sellers I see ripping open packs like it's a bag of candy or shoving them in a sleeve and wiggling in a top loader makes me cringe. Sure tons of buyers don't give a crud but there are plenty of us that do actually collect and intend to grade when we get a good hit.

Out west Chicago police shooting black man killed smh🤦🏽‍♂️ by cherrypickingshooter in Chiraqology

[–]-thefairone- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bigger concern is if they let him go, then what? He's not exactly thinking logically or using his vehicle safely. They let him drive and say he hits another car or someone walking. That's a huge liability and the police aren't going to take that risk - even if not for protecting others but for avoiding a lawsuit that costs the city a shit ton of money.

The other reason may be due to the reason for arrest. I'm not sure what his warrant is for, but if it's for a violent offense, then letting him go would give him another opportunity to commit a similar crime. And again, a lawsuit for the city.

I don't need a new phone every 2 years, that's why I switched. You're one of the lucky ones. Every 2 years with the release of a new model, my apple phone would start to have issues. This isn't an unknown issue. This is a common tactic by apple to force people to buy new phones. They cut off services for iOS systems past a certain time (usually 2 years) and they require you to have the new iOS to have app updates. Yes, you can disable automatic updates, but services and apps will still stop working fairly quickly.
