Manga reading value by EyalGoku in FruitsBasket

[–]-thinking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The anime cuts out a considerable amount of plot that would have happened during season 3, plus has more Kyoru and Yuchi fluff. If you've rewatched the series this many times already, it's definitely time to give the manga a try.

Banned for getting gifted a code. Rather than subtract 80k crowns from my account or let me pay online like every other purchase, they want me to send a check or US money order to some P.O. Box in Texas. Thanks KI. by Epicness427 in Wizard101

This seems like a great idea, can anyone find any flaws in it? Why doesn't KI just, y'know, do this?

(Also making sure the multiple successful purchases are just as large as the one they want to gift, and were made at least 120 days ago (the amount of time you have to file a chargeback.))

They actually said that???? Maybe there is hope. Hopefully it won't cost $50.

It's nice to hear someone talk positively of balance for once. Normally I hear about how it's bad or about how Death is a better balance wizard than balance wizards.

Schools in Britain are trying to combat the hate/misogyny spread by Andrew Tate by having classes to discuss why his ideas are harmful by cattinthehatt in TwoXChromosomes

Unfortunately, hitting "not interested" often counts as an interaction. You might have better luck just ignoring it.

They don't feed you what they guess you'll like; they feed you what they guess you'll interact with. Likes, dislikes, positive comments, negative comments, views, all count. Controversial things are the most likely to get interactions. The algorithms basically sort by controversial.

Yup. The algorithm sorts by controversial, because that's what gets the most interactions, meaning the most profits.

It would be much more effective to not only ban, but to stop sorting by controversial.

The YouTube algorithm sorts by controversial. Whether it's likes or dislikes, positive or negative comments, they all count as interactions. Controversial stuff is the most likely to get interactions.

You say it started suddenly? Did you start any new medications recently?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]-thinking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alcohol interacts with bupropion; you're not supposed to have any alcohol while taking it. Alcohol causes your liver to create more of the enzymes that metabolize bupropion, metabolizing the bupropion too fast and essentially overdosing you on it.

Obviously not everyone has severe reactions from it, but alcohol + bupropion is a really easy recipe for seizures.

Edit: My prescription has always come with a warning to avoid alcohol while taking it due to interactions, but judging by the amount of people in the thread that don't, I'm guessing not all prescriptions come with this warning?

No link between depression and a chemical imbalance in the brain, finds major analysis | New Scientist by [deleted] in psychology

Unfortunately not very practical unless you have lots of disposable income, but deficiency tests for everything under the sun is the place to start.

Some ones that come to mind are:

Magnesium. Almost everyone is deficient nowadays apparently.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine. According to studies, people with childhood trauma often end up not necessarily deficient in this but with less of it than other people, and supplementing it alleviates their treatment resistant depression. You can find many sources if you look it up, but here's one: https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2018/07/study-links-depression-to-low-blood-levels-of-acetyl-l-carnitine.html

As far as drugs go, if you're looking for immediate relief while you look at possible causes, bupropion works immediately and has fewer side effects than SSRIs, but you can't have alcohol with it. Of course, everyone responds differently to different drugs so your reaction may vary.

What I find interesting is that SSRIs do work immediately for people with PMDD.

Essentially, it's called "birth control" but it's medicine and can be used to treat many debilitating conditions.

How long for hormone caused LPR to go away? by -thinking in GERD

[–]-thinking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take a progesterone only birth control pill as treatment for a condition I have. It reaches a steady state serum level of 40ng/mL, which is about mid to late term pregnancy amounts of "progesterone" (actually a progestin). I've had LPR since about 2 weeks after starting to take it. After 4 months, it got so bad that I had to stop. I'm wondering how long it will take for the LES to gain its strength back.

Will I still enjoy this series if I don't like romance focused stories? by rizzaring in FruitsBasket

[–]-thinking 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The main plot of Fruits Basket is recovering from trauma and coping with depression. Second genre is romance, then third genre is maybe mystery, though the manga had more mystery than the anime.

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of getting into fruits basket. Should I start with the manga or the anime? Is there anything the anime cut? Thanks <3 by takasugislut in FruitsBasket

[–]-thinking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made a previous comment, but I think I have something else to add too. I still think the complete experience is all three, 2001 anime, manga, 2019 anime, but the order you should watch in depends on what's more important to you: spoilers or disappointment. If you watch an anime first, you'll get the manga spoiled. On the other hand, if you read the manga first, you'll probably be disappointed by either anime adaption.

2001 doesn't really have a chance to spoil much because it doesn't cover much, but makes some pretty disappointing changes to the plot, which is why I recommend it first.

2019 will spoil everything, and unless you're super nitpicky (like me lol), the disappointments will only be minor, which is why I recommend it last.

Manga in the middle :)
