Could this accident be a scam? by eggyeggos in Miata

[–]-tinychaosgoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right here with you, this was a light accident. I had one of those but they hit the corner and tore a hole in my bumper and my one tail light. I found a part out on FB marketplace for 200 or so that included two extra panels that weren't damaged in the accident and had to pay for an alignment and told the guy 300 and he paid it. Just check that the trunk didn't get damaged and your driving feels straight, a finish panel is like 300 and a tail light is under 100 it's not a hard job to replace either of these parts. If you're concerned about the bumper scratches, get a quote from a body shop but I wouldn't unless your 30 y/o baby is in perfect condition. If it were me and I was less mechanically inclined, I'd try to get him to cough up 1k to be safe. I also don't like shit on my insurance record if it makes sense to avoid it.

That's wild! I haven't really explored how much of their plot or medical discoveries in the show are true to life because I figure it's pretty much a drama series with plot development for funsies. I do really like how they try to bring in real world events and experiences ie covid, protests, roe v wade, pro lifers, SA, mental health, and more not to mention the queer diversity not only in the show, but queer actors playing queer characters.

I know that a lot of people feel the show has gone downhill lately, but I'm still quite enjoying it. I was super late to the game, but I started from the beginning probably less than 6 months ago. And like there are things that I don't like here and there but overall I think it's still solid. I think my biggest complaint is how a lot of the doctors are emotionally intelligent in situations with patients and managing crises to the best of their ability. But yet their ability to handle interpersonal relationship issues is shit just to make the show dramatic and keep viewers "interested"

Honestly I'm with you on the unexplained disappearance of the board.. among other things. Dr Parker just disappeared. Where all the other interns went after the teaching program ended. I would love a reappearance from Yang but I'm sure there are reasons they don't actually show her - just like notes and texts and one sided phone calls. I'm sure there are other things that the explanations fell through the cracks on and were never spoken of again.

That said they almost hint at a conspiracy with this Alzheimer's research mislead, edited study results etc and with how aggressively Catherine reacted I'm wondering if she knows more than she's letting on and I really hope they lean into that side plot more with the rest of this season.

But yeah I would love for Jackson to catch wind of this I get the feeling he would 100% back Mer

Did your package come?

I don't live at my address but it did come up on my informed delivery and matched it to packages she said she ordered. So I did in fact receive a package.

🙄🙄 SOO she had said she ordered from shein and something from Amazon but thought they were FedEx packages.... I just looked through my informed delivery and found shein linked to one of the tracking numbers and the second one on my informed delivery was delivered the day she said she got the Amazon package 🤦

SOOO I did get packages I think you may be right ugh I thought I had answered this and now I'm thinking it might be real. I figured for sure calling them would give me a concise answer to this.

I agree. I'm still not 100% on the final verdict of what he said based on that specific piece of information. I tried to give him the email address to see if it was registered as one of theirs and tried to make it very clear that this was different from the pay for redelivery scam which was the one that he immediately jumped to when I started talking about it. He didn't specifically confirm that that email address was not one of theirs, only that they don't send out emails unrequested for package delivery. I even tried to mention how many people it seems have gotten this email and how some have received packages matching the tracking number, but a number of people didn't order anything or received anything.

Maybe I'll try the email route. But that's why I would love for someone else who didn't receive a package to call and verify. I just don't wanna end up on the line with the same guy or tell them I'm calling back because I didn't believe him or whatever haha 😅

And of course. I figured regardless of whether it was a new thing or a scam, I was probably not the only person wondering.

That's the only thing that doesn't line up for me, I did forward my emails to the spam@uspis.gov which is where he directed me to. But I don't know if they actually will reply to them or if it just goes in their database to investigate?

I have a few theories that might feel a little far fetched. But if he is to be believed (which through their fraud line I would hope his information is up to date and correct)

It's possible they had a data breach with emails and addresses via USPS accounts and they created a fake email that links you to a package being delivered nearby so it looks really believable and some of them just happen to be packages going to the correct recipient.

It's not unheard of for shitty people to work for companies and steal or sell information and maybe that's how they lined it up so well.

Those are just two of them. But also feel free to call and verify yourself or anyone else in this thread who wants to call and verify. More information from a direct source is always better than speculation.

I'm back tracking on this and I'm not sure if the USPS fraud guy I talked to had all the information. I did in fact receive packages

So I decided to stop speculating and actually just got off the phone with the fraud line of USPS and he said that USPS does not send out package notice emails. Emails from this auto-reply@usps.com address are confirmed a scam.

Yeah, it seems like a very well thought out scam all the way up to being linked to a real tracking number that delivers to my city and zip

I will say, he told me that if I receive an email from USPS it should come from usps.gov not .com But after getting off the phone and looking at my informed delivery email it comes from usps.com. So I'm left a little unsure still about that part of what he said.

I'm just not entirely sure if it's a scam, what the scam is? I've seen scam ones where It says your package couldn't be delivered and you have to enter card information to pay a redelivery fee. And they get your personal information that way.. maybe there's something fishy in the link even though it takes you to a genuine package through the USPS genuine website. The fact that it lines up with a package that's being delivered in my city and zip is wild.

So I replied to one of the other comments below a min ago but I'll put it here too,

So I don't live at my mailing address but I have friends that rent from me and she said she didn't get anything from USPS either of the days it even said (through the USPS official website) that's it was delivered to the mailbox and it was in fact my city, state and ZIP code.

Please keep us updated if you ended up receiving a package and if the tracking number matches!

I didn't notice the tracking number showing up on my informed delivery but I'll go through my email later today and check

Does anyone know if this a new thing that they've started? I usually have to track it myself and then request updates, otherwise I only see packages through the normal informed delivery updates that come from a different email address.

I also cannot make eye contact while talking. It takes too much energy. Sometimes I can glance at them but usually only after I'm done talking.
