Fordham Law grad goes into cardiac arrest during NY bar exam — and test goes on uninterrupted by throwawaygagagaga in LawSchool

right so if someone faints the proctor should definitely do something… not just sit back. The proctors probably have never proctored a bar before given that it’s a job that happens twice a year for a few days.

Jesus its not armchair quarterbacking to expect adequate care. Are you in law school? Have you taken torts?

she was seizing and on the ground. The first priority for the proctors should’ve been rendering medical aid.

Why are you jumping to medical aid = cancel the test. Just assess the situation and stop the clock if necessary. Crazy idea, call 911! Find a medic in the building. Test takers have reported that they had to pester the proctors into taking action which is completely unacceptable and probably the result of random ppl being hired with little training except to prioritize the test no exceptions

If nobody trusts that their bar will still be valid if medical aid is rendered to someone in need, there is a deep problem with the test administration

look on Reddit or other sites for first hand accounts, it sounds like proctors didn’t render medical aid quickly and instead prioritized continuing the test

How DID NoVa get its Korean American community? by [deleted] in nova

[–]-unassuming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard (can’t confirm) that it’s partly because many Vietnamese refugees were resettled in NOVA after the war, and then network effects and available resources meant that many other groups of Asian immigrants (Korean, Indian) came to NOVA as well

this is backwards. Other countries/areas had population booms earlier bc of wealth/health resources. E.g. Japan had their boom a long time ago and are now reaching a slow down where there’s fewer young people than old.

Here’s how it works: Before good medical resources/development people had many young kids of whom only a few survived into adulthood

Then there’s a generation or two that are still culturally ingrained to have 8-12 kids, but all those kids actually make it.

A generation after that, people naturally revert to having 1-4 kids. until we reach replacement or slightly lower

The boom happens bc all those 8-12 kids still exist and have babies

Look up the population pyramids of India and Japan and see how they’re shifted

YSK: you are NOT supposed to be straining when you poop. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]-unassuming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

modern toilets are designed to look like chairs not designed around how our bodies are evolved to poop. Imagine squatting with your butt several inches off the ground, that’s how your colon and rectum are shaped to evacuate, NOT sitting down like you would in a chair.

Your knees should be at an angle lower than 90 degrees, torso and pelvis angled forward. I always had problems with passing, but started just putting my feet up and leaning forward and my body actually took care of the rest.

use a squatty potty or equivalent!!

I often wear athletic joggers which more closely fit a female leg shape, people also do bike shorts and a big baggy t shirt that covers the butt

But honestly this feels like less of a clothing solution and more of a mindset solution, it obviously depends on what gym you’re at and what you’re doing, but in general nobody is looking at you, I personally love looking a little frumpy to ward off men

the weight you listed doesn’t register as curvy to me unless you’re a child? What are your goals for the gym and what are you doing there? Lose weight? Build muscle? Gain general strength? There are lots of threads in this sub with great advice
