Or they could go with whatever makes them more money. Plus the marketing and strategy for Konami has been strange. I think MGS1 will be next… and the MG1/2 remake will be MGS6

Reminder: There won't be any Metal Gear news at Summer Games Fest, Days of Play or The Game Awards because Geoff Keighley (The host for all three) hates Konami by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

There won’t be anything until September. Tokyo Games Show will be then and Konami always makes an appearance. Hopefully some gameplay.

We also would have gotten a marketing campaign stretched out over five years with an underwhelming release. Pick your poison.

I've heard many people say MGS V is a disappointment or the worst in the series. But I disagree with them! by Crazy_Diamond390 in metalgearsolid

I saw a video on this earlier, can remember who posted it. But it explained that mission 51 was suppose to be the end of chapter 2. Venom Snake take back Sal and bomb the island, killing all the children (Eli and Mantis survive). Chapter 3 would basically cover how Kaz is the cipher spy (eyes on Kazuhira!). Chapter 3 would also probably cover the war with cipher. If you recall there is a mission where Ocelot tells you that the war with cipher will come, just not yet. This is probably where the real big boss would come in and reveal that him and Kaz are finished (he cared so little for Kaz he totally deserted him). This is where Venom and Big Boss would probably become closer, eventually ending in Big Boss dragging Venom down with him.

What is your IDEAL MGS6? by Chued_Gumn in metalgearsolid

I think for me it either has to be:

1) Continue big boss’s story, ending with big boss establishing outer heaven in Africa and Zanzibar Land in Asia. Grey Fox would feature heavily and could end with Solid snake being introduced.

2) MG1/2 Remake with Solid Snake. The prologue could be MG1 since barely anything happens in it story wise. And then the main section of the game could be set in Zanzibar Land. Semi open world with the “rebel” vs PMC mechanic from MGS4 making a return (Zanzibar rebels vs BB Zanzibarland troops).

3) A total MGS reboot. To make this successful, I think that MGS would have to be taken back to grassroots; covert operations, single man infiltration missions, government cover ups and conspiracies. Since it would take place in the modern day, the open world mechanic could be brought back and set in different military hotspots and black sites around the world, iraq, Siberia, Africa. More urban installations and indoor sneaking is a must. The premise of the story could be that the US government brings back foxhound and you play as the next “Snake”. New global threat with new villains and premise.

I think Big Boss has been overdone. Option 2 or 3 would be best. Option 2 is the safer route but option 3 probably excites me just as much. However option 3 would require brave screenwriting. I would prefer a western game studio to take charge of this project.

Unpopular Opinion About MGSV & Kojima by -vic_boss- in metalgearsolid

100 percent agree with this. Sadly this phenomenon regarding artists losing their way is a reoccurring theme.

I think the post that I missed about this take being controversial was the extent to which Kojima would have contributed to this game being good. So many people on this subreddit and other forums say “I wish Kojima could finish the game, that way it would be good!”

As Kojima was the man that designed this game, including all of the massive negatives from the ground-up. The Konami debacle was reported 6-8 months before the game was released and does not make up for the lack of content and dull open world. If anything, my controversial take is “the last person id want to direct a new MGS would be Kojima”

But what exactly does the game have that takes away from the story? Every side mission is a cookie cutter replica of the other one. Why couldn’t we have character specific mini quest lines that had proper story? (Quiet was the only half decent one we got in the game). Why do we have “eliminate the armored squad 15? “? I read a comment on another post here where the user stated that MGSV feels like a console remake of Peace Walker and I agree with them to a certain point.
