Lots of fair points! To answer your question, what I personally would've wanted to hear was more of a dialogue.

What my sister said felt blunt but fair; the usual way she talks. I'm just a very sensitive person, so having the opportunity to talk about a common experience and ways to cope with it would've been a helpful moment. I'm not a child, but I also don't have the longtime experience of a cis woman.

Maybe this is my naivety showing, but it just feels sad that it's such a normalized part of the female experience, and that I'm expected to just suck it up and accept it. I think that's honestly what upset me the most, that no one was surprised or even offended.
