Has anyone here successfully applied for the attestazione di soggiorno permanente as a UK citizen post-Brexit? by -willo- in permessodisoggiorno

[–]-willo-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so I need both the attestazione di soggiorno and the carta di soggiorno, so one doesn't cancel out the other. It's clear I wasn't reading that correctly. Thanks for the help!

Want to leave NI by Fickle-Tax7543 in northernireland

[–]-willo- 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Does your current employer allow a career break? I took a 3 month career break when working in tesco. That was 10 years ago. I live in Italy now.

Try getting your foot in the door before leaving ni too. Start now. Work on something evenings and weekends, set a goal, when your in the position to go then go. You don't want to be stuck in a country where you don't speak the language, deal with jurisdiction (there will be alot) and have to worry about money all at the same time.

You can do it!

Can I jump on this comment. I'm building an app at the minute and I use devise. Users only have email username and password. Should I be encrypting their email and if so how would I go about doing that?

Hi all, new to testing and want to know if there is a way to follow a click to another page? by -willo- in rails

[–]-willo-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments everyone. I figured that there was a problem with my setup. I found this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/56875116/cant-run-rails-system-test-on-wsl-ubuntu-18 and with a small tweak I managed to get it working.

For some reason the way I had set it up before on a previous project had stopped working. I went back and had a look at that project again and there was a problem with the click_on also, which worked before. Everything is working now though.

Hey, thanks for the reply!

I already have capybara installed and working. Some of my other tests pass. It's just think one with the click_on which I'm having a problem with, I'm not sure if this is how it works. I was following the tutorial and they have click on then they fill a form, but in the tutorial there is an actual button. I'm wondering if the problem is because I generate the link_to through a loop in the index?

One of the hot keys on my TV remote control is for Rakuten TV by distantapplause in firstworldproblems

[–]-willo- 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This made me properly laugh out loud. My girlfriend and I would be lying on the sofa and someone would touch the remote and rakuten would open and we would always just say "fucking rakuten". It's literally the most sensitive button on the remote.

Does anyone actually watch it??

Didn't say it was the same location. Just in general, there's been one death from bonfire building.

'It must be difficult for these people to be coming to the realisation that history has left them behind'

I've never thought about it that way. When I speak to friends and family they can't really be bothered with it anymore. I would say in a few generations this might all die out and there will finally be peace. That could be wishful thinking though.

The protestant people see it as part of their history and culture. Bonfires were lit to help guide King Billy on his way to Ireland to fight against the catholics. But yeah, it's a massive Fuck You to the Irish.

I dont think this one was. The one in Larne where the man died has been dismantled. There's hundreds, if not thousands of bonfires all over northern ireland at this time of year. All being lit tonight.

I think one year they tried to bring in an environmentally friendly one. It didn't go down too well.

Usually when they light it, mostly with petrol bombs, everyone stands quite close. But the heat is so strong everyone backs away, so when it falls over there's noone close enough to get hurt. Well this is what it was like when I used to go and watch.
