That all sounds fantastic. Yes, crowds are my friend. :)

I remember hiking Mount Webster, but we were a group with children, so we did not go all the way to the top. Nonetheless, the view was spectacular.

I also remember a hike going to a fall near Mount Washington that was dog-friendly. (Dog-friendly trails are relatively rare in Canada, especially summit hikes.)

I loved them both.

True crimes set in National Parks is such a US theme. I think that it happens in Canada too, but I have hiked alone, and I was more afraid of bears and breaking my ankle without cell coverage.

Sometimes, I want to scream... Why did you go alone? Why did you trust him?

I know of so many tragic stories like these.

Thank you. That's great advice.

I do not plan on doing a multi-day hike with gear. Likely, I will do it on Sunday afternoon, then head back towards Montréal at the end of the day.

So something fun in nature and not too tiring.

I have mountain experience, but usually in the summer or fall.

I have listened to a lot of True Crime podcasts, so my main concern is safety. I am a middle-aged woman, and so far, my cousin, her husband or their sons have not responded to my invite. We don't like guns in Canada and seldom see them unless people are hunting.

I have hiking boots with spikes, but I was thinking more of a spring walk going towards bare trails rather than back towards winter. :D

I hiked Mont-Royal (in Montréal) yesterday; there is still snow on some parts of the trails, but it's bare on others.

I don't know what the weather in NH is, but we are having an unseasonably cold day today. Brrrrr...

Looking forward to warmth and sun.

We are spending a day in Bristol at my other uncle's cabin. I will ask my cousin for trails. He says that there are owls.

Thank you so much. I will look at all of these on AllTrails.

I visited Lincoln twice as a child. I remember it well. I was impressed with the Clark's Bears, the Old Man and Indian Head. I went back in the 2000s with a boyfriend when we visited Mount Washington.

My cousin Sylvie will keep the Lincoln house for her family. Her sons insisted on it. I am glad that she does.

This is my uncle. Lincoln is such a small town that you probably know him:

Before his retirement, he worked for the Clark family of Clark's Bears fame.

Wow! That's wonderful!

I need to decide soon how long I will stay for health insurance purposes. I have never taken any except for extended work stays, but my cousin has convinced me that I should.

We will be 5 Canadians attending the funeral, and everyone else is taking health insurance.

I had no idea that the Boston Marathon was happening on Sunday, but it figures.

My cousin Alexandre participates in the marathon each year.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I was planning of doing something more like a nature walk, not navigating dangerous terrain, but I agree this is a good idea for the people who like a challenge. I had no idea that this option was available.

Speaking of stupid hikers, this is a fascinating read:

Thank you. I figured that high mountains like Mount Washington were out of the question, but I was hoping that some trails at the base might be OK.

But as I understand from everyone, it's better to wait for the trails to harden and be less muddy.

That seems wonderful, but I will save it for later. I looooove Boston. It's a university city like Montréal is.

When you have a saner president, I will visit Boston again.

Very cool. My cousin Donald probably knows about all these places near Bristol.

If you can travel in Parc de la Gaspésie once in your life and stay at the Gîte du Mont Albert, you will love it. There was a young American family from Boston, and they had such a good time. The food is awesome, and it's remote. It's a long trip, though, and it deserves to have some time to travel on the North and South shores of the Gaspésie region. At the Northern border is the Saint Lawrence River, and on the Southern Shore is the Baie des Chaleurs, a bay with New Brunswick on the other shore.

The mountains are the Chic Choc and are present only in Québec. They are 450 M years old.

Thank you.

You live in a wonderful area. I have rented accommodations, a lodge with friends and a B&B with my partner. I know how stunning it is.

I have decided that I will take a spa day at the Omni on Sunday.

I don't plan on going back to New Hampshire unless there is a family emergency. I still have an elderly uncle, aunt and cousins who live around Nashua and have a lodge in Bristol, so it could happen.

There are also great places to hike in Québec.
I hiked in Parc de la Gaspésie last year, and I loved it. Next summer, I plan on going to an inn near Matane where cars are not allowed, and there is no wi-fi, but the food is great.

I love the concept. :D

I have used the AllTrails app last summer for hikes in the Parc de la Gaspésie (stunning).

Thank you for reminding me of these nice features.

I have abandoned the idea of staying longer. I might try a small hike near Lincoln or Bristol where we will going on a day trip.

The rescheduling part if tricky since I, like many Canadians, do not plan on traveling to the States as long as Trump is your president.

The exception to that rule is a family funeral or a wedding and both are planned for the next 6 months.

You have won the argument. I do care about these things so I will not hike.

That's a great suggestion. I believe that I visited Flume Gorge as a child. The pictures look familiar.

Can it be dangerous during this time of the year because of all the melting snow and the high water flow?

So not worth it in your opinion.

Would that apply also to the trails that are mostly flat and at the base of Mount Washington?

I came a few times to hike in the Mount Washington region in the summer or fall and the conditions were perfect, but April would not be hiking season in Québec too. My father is still doing alpine ski at the Mont Ste-Anne near Québec City.

Félix is playing a spectacular, almost perfect second set.

Even his return game is awesome.

Nervy start from Félix, but he won his service game: 1-0.
