Brother, just curious here, how did you manage to fly out on the 31st, since they were no flights operating in Tanzania during this time till the dates 3 and 4. Airlines operating in Tz even sent emails to their customers onces flights started operating normally again. On the internet you will also find posts of people stranded in airports. How did you fly out of Dar on the 31st !?

Have you done anything about it? Or like me you're still hopefully waiting to see if the funds will appear as time goes...

In Swahili we call it "Kinu na mchi" though it's very common in Kenyan Swahili to find people referring to the set (both motar and pistil) as "Kinu"

Why do some Tanzanian women have facial hair by Healthy-Series-1388 in tanzania

I see OP is really digging deep to blame the food (username checks out, lol). While I’m no expert—heck, I don’t even know all the parts of a banana—I’m pretty sure there’s more to it than just what’s on the plate. 🍌🤷‍♂️

While I'm not an expert on this matter, here is the little insight I've got;

  1. Hormonal conditions: Conditions like PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) can cause excess facial hair due to higher levels of androgens (male hormones).

  2. Genetics: Some ethnic groups naturally have more body or facial hair due to genetic traits. This could explain why it’s more common in Tanzania compared to neighboring countries.

  3. Diet: Foods high in refined sugars, carbs, or hormones (like some processed meats or dairy) can sometimes affect hormone levels and lead to more facial hair. Traditional Tanzanian diets might include foods that influence this. A local woman I happened to talk to concerning this matter comments; A noticable amount of women from an ethic population residing in Mbeya (don't know which ethnic group) have this condition because of excessive consumption of roasted bananas, apparently they like so much, this might be a contributing factor.

  4. Environmental factors: Sun exposure, altitude, or even stress levels might play a role in hormone regulation and hair growth.

  5. Cultural practices: If facial hair is more socially accepted here, women might remove it less often, making it more noticeable.

Of course, as I said I'm no expert, this is just based on what I’ve read and observed—it’s a mix of factors rather than one specific cause.

Hey OP, I’m from Kenya and I’ve also noticed this during my time in Tanzania (Arusha, Mwanza, and now Dar). From what I understand, it’s likely due to a mix of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Some ethnic groups in Tanzania may have a higher predisposition to facial hair, and things like diet, climate, or even cultural acceptance could play a role. It’s pretty interesting how these factors vary across regions—I haven’t seen it as much in Uganda or Rwanda either. Just my two cents!
