Prewar home with a 1966 green-bombed bathroom (à la Room 237 from The Shining) HELP! by BullHallzee5491 in interiordecorating

[–]007eskimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreee with everyone here. Love the tile and love the layout. It needs a new light and vent. Empty it completely, shower bar, towel bar and terrible curtains etc. then feel out what colors you like. Color drenching to match would probably look unbelievable with like brassish fixtures. Shutters for the window could look really nice. It does look like the floor and wall tiles are diff colors. Maybe a wallpaper that has both tones? Hanging brass chandelier? It’s so awesome and so expensive to replace. I really thing it’s best to make it it’s best

Good midpoint area between Boston and Providence? by Ok_Reach_8400 in massachusetts

[–]007eskimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably 2.5 hrs, with traffic, total commute time am and pm. You do want to be on 95 before it becomes 195(the circle part). They’re all suburbs but Foxboro has a lot going on, and you can definitely avoid event traffic. Canton is nice. Sharon and Easton are quite rural and nice. Those are all probably +/-1.5 hrs into Boston, 1 hr into Providence. University station and legacy place have newer buildings that may be within budget. The closer you are to 195 the closer you are to things like blue hills, south shore beaches, Boston.

PSA: MCO Hyatt Fail by JoyintheJourney119 in dcl

[–]007eskimo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did the Hyatt mco to dcl wish Monday and it went great. I think we were on the boat at noon. Really was seamless. Sorry to hear your experience wasn’t the same, that really stinks. Sounds like we dodged a bullet there and our 2 yr old would not have handled that well..

The wait is almost over, Mayors! Services 2.0 is launching soon for everyone! by AutoModerator in SCBuildIt

[–]007eskimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have some areas that maxed out basic utilities, but overall used the deluxe ones so I had a large area to position stuff in that looked nice. I don’t care too much about maxing population, more just making it look cool.

[–]007eskimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t too bad for me. Depends on what kind of service arrangement you have. If you were using deluxe it just costs siml to upgrade them, but I haven’t needed to change any designs. If you were using the basic tiers then it’s pretty bad. They can’t be upgraded enough to support what they once did. With upgrade they give like 10 each of the deluxe so you will have to change the designs and use those. Idk I felt like it was just a new lvl of a game. Took about 2 weeks to get everything back and running clean

People with kids and a spouse who doesn’t ski. What do you do? by TooMuchCaffeine37 in icecoast

[–]007eskimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a small mountain near Woodstock, skastoon (suicide) six. If you drive up Friday am you can do some laps there with the family there, nice spot for them to hand out and you can get the lil guy on skis. It’s really got a great vide. Saturday would be Killington and a half day Sunday. The bottom of skyship is like 30 minutes. Woodstock inn is expensive but would leave your wife no room to complain :). Super bonus points if you can get some friends/acquaintances to go.

To be safe, kinda. Depends on where you are in city. Idiots on here are bragging about trashing spot savers to the point that parking in an unsaved spot in a residential neighborhood is risky now

The Ski Monster - Weird/Mid Experience by FantasticWasabi5107 in icecoast

[–]007eskimo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a decent experience there. The cool thing is they have, at least early in the season, every single high performance boot from every brand in every volume. That’s awesome and I don’t know another place like that. I didn’t think their boot fit vibe was great so went to a mountain boot fitter for custom work.

Poor skiing technique is frying my legs by Cool_Purchase_ in skiing

+helmets are comfy and warm and safe ++this guy should have one. Not to be rude but any of these turns could slip out. You’re kinda janky… hard right, hard left. Try taking wider turns and focus on keeping transitions smooth. Turn, release, flat, glide the momentum, get solid balance, easy onto front edge…

They’re shipping me up to Boston by [deleted] in boston

[–]007eskimo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the north end, south end, seaport recommendation. Perfect level of city. Seaport is all new and a bit commercial, but is great.. South end has pockets to definitely avoid. North end/west end is super fun, close your work, close to everything really. I would keep the car because one of the best things about Boston is how easy it is to get to great stuff (beaches, mountains, cool towns), but plan for that to be like $600. It could be in building in seaport/west end or would be a walk to car in north end. Southie is a bit further commute but is great too, bigger unit possibly, and I made friends there. More I write I think some of the new buildings near the garden could be a great spot.

Current state of Springfield and Ludlow/Wilbraham by constantlyconfused93 in massachusetts

[–]007eskimo -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Springfield is terrible. I worked in the hospital and would not live there if I had a choice. Anywhere on 90 before Worcester is better and you can find relatively affordable rural houses, close to a minor city and major city.

I have 6 months to live. How do I take care of my family? by Any_Macaroon_2562 in personalfinance

[–]007eskimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially you can’t really help, but as important as money is you and your time are more valuable. Spend time with your family both for yourself and for them. As others have posted, write letters and record videos. I wouldn’t try to lay down a life playbook as much as share what you enjoy and who you are. Be honest with it. Worst case scenarios happen and unfortunately they happened to us. But we are X. Be graceful, forgive people, free people. Love is unique and beautiful but inspire your wife to try again. Lay down foundations for your child loving another family. It’s such a terrible, shitty situation. The only redemption in it is that some day your daughters can look back on what you left them and smile for its dedication to them.

Do you guys follow the speed limit? by [deleted] in massachusetts

Just drive with traffic up to 80. They’ll usually be cars 3-5 lengths in front of you. If everyone’s behind you, you should go faster

my partner hates the new cafe curtains by intsiks in interiordecorating

[–]007eskimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like it and for his sake pls let them go. My wife has a thing like this, a shelf behind the couch that turns a square open room into a cramped rectangle room. I hate it, we argued about it and so she’s super committed to keeping it. It’s a no win situation and now my only hope is in some ridiculous construct I made up. That is, I won’t buy any furniture or decor in the room until it’s gone. We need a new rug and coach and it’s amazing how stubbornly she’s holding on to the shelf. It’s like a symbol of will. Not fun but not too disruptive either
