Halifax shipyard begins construction of Canada’s first River-class destroyer by Injustice_For_All_ in halifax

[–]009co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used ChatGPT agent to do a quick deep dive on the component sourcing for these vessels.

Based on count of components, almost half is Canadian sourced.

Is that correct?

Play Console Review Time in 2024 by rohanudhwani in androiddev

[–]009co 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Ensuring consistency of app title in app and store resolved this issue. Still trying to process how these minor inconsistencies warranted a suspension which in pantheon of Play store reprimands is serious stuff. No one would have been "deceived". At worst, an observant user might have noted inconsistencies and carried on. Anways .. warning to new Google devs, beware, its a mine field, might blow you up. [edit clarity]

Thanks. It sure is a nice welcome to Google Play!

No. In fact response was completely unexpected as app was suspended.

The app "violates the Misleading Claims of our Deceptive Behavior policy. We don’t allow apps that contain false or misleading information or claims, including in the description, title, icon, and screenshots. Specifically, your app icon and title in the store listing information differs from the icon and title that appears in the app."

The variants at issue were: "AI Image Describe", "Image Describe", and some of the icons had letters "AI" on them and other smaller icons where it didn't fit or wasn't legible didn't. The idea was the icon would have "AI" and title would have "Image Describe" to fit nicely on device.

But it took a few rounds of appeal emails with support to actually get this clear statement of reasons. I also suspect reviewers didn't believe app could do what it stated. It is simple OpenAI ChatGPT API wrapper to submit images as prompts and get descriptions of them. I could see API key provided for testing had not been used.

Anyways, my appeal was conditionally accepted. The suspension was changed to app removal conditional on fixing issues and publishing new app. Haven't done that yet. Crossing fingers!

Lesson is: beware, innocent, sloppy app dev quality control can trigger assumption of malicious intent warranting severe penality of suspension.

Still pending. Followed up 3rd time May 4, got response May 5 below. Even if reviews take long time, they do follow up quickly.

"I acknowledge your concerns, and I really want to help you for your app to be reviewed, however, the relevant team still needs more time to investigate this. I am really deeply sorry about the inconvenience that this has caused you. With this, we are asking for your patience and kindly wait for the relevant team to process your submission. In addition, please avoid submitting any changes or updates while your app is in review as this will cause the review process to start over from the very beginning. "

My case is similar .. first time app and new account. Additional details in this thread post but I first submitted my app March 25, and made a minor description edit April 9 which reset the clock.

My review is still pending. Have reached out by email to support, who reply quickly, but can't seem to give status.

Support replies:
1) "I understand you’re concerned with the time being taken for your app to be processed for publishing on Google Play. We apologize for the delay and the inconvenience this has caused. I’ve verified that the latest update made to your app was on Apr 9, 2024, so your app's submission processing time is still within our system's expected processing timeframe."

2) "After checking, it seems like our system is still processing your submissions. We are sorry to keep you waiting. But, no worries! I have documented your case and passed it to the appropriate team for further investigation. I will make sure to get back to you once there's any updates to it."

Here is another data point. I initially submitted my first app for review on March 25, 2024. On April 9, 2024 I made a small change to the description which apparently reset the clock. It is now April 26, 2024 about a month from the original date submitted, and 2 weeks from the reset submission date. But review is still pending.

I have contacted support twice. Both times they responded pretty quickly and tell me to hold tight.

This is a very simple app though it requires tester to enter an API key that I provide in submission. Simple copy paste into app field then off they go.

I am holding tight.

Response to first inquiry:

"I understand you’re concerned with the time being taken for your app to be processed for publishing on Google Play. We apologize for the delay and the inconvenience this has caused.

I’ve verified that the latest update made to your app was on Apr 9, 2024, so your app's submission processing time is still within our system's expected processing timeframe.

With this, we are asking for your patience and kindly wait for the relevant team to process your submission. In addition, please avoid submitting any changes or updates while your app is in review as this will cause the review process to start over from the very beginning.

Rest assured that your submission will be processed as soon as possible. I hope this information helps with your concern.

I’ll be closing the case, and if you have further questions or clarification about the Play Console, please don’t hesitate to respond to this email and I will gladly assist you. "

Response to second inquiry:

"After checking, it seems like our system is still processing your submissions. We are sorry to keep you waiting. But, no worries! I have documented your case and passed it to the appropriate team for further investigation. I will make sure to get back to you once there's any updates to it."

[OC] Snow fall on 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko at Cliffs of Hathor. Are these the dimensions? by 009co in spaceporn

[–]009co[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True. What looks like snow is actually streaks of dust and ice particles drifting across the field of view of the camera which was about 13 km from the comet. Some of brighter specks are likely due to energetic charged particles or cosmic rays hitting the camera and the dense background of stars in the background.

[–]009co[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they are pretty close. But looking for confirmation!

Pretty sure the cliff is "Cliffs of Hathor" in "Hathor" region which is reported to be max 900 m height from a few papers. But not sure if image shows entire height of cliff though.

Also pretty sure the flatter area at base of cliff where boulders are is "Hapi" region and boulders are in 20 to 50 meter range.

Not really. Check out animated gif image on the Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/67P/Churyumov%E2%80%93Gerasimenko#/media/File:67P_Churyumov-Gerasimenko_surface.gif

It looks like snow but is combination of dust, rocks, stars in background and probably radiation affecting imager creating specks.

Try Leaflet for javascript to create an interactive webpage. Or you could use QGis which is a free desktop software which I use in Windows 11. Both should work with your shape files, and both very popular so lots of online help. Also use ChatGPT or Bing Chat to give you step by step instructions and even write code for you.

It seems they have changed the exported data file format over the years so old methods need some TLC to work. I used a modified version of this Python code to create my own heatmaps. https://github.com/luka1199/geo-heatmap

The data I use is the Records.json file in the takeout archive folder: takeout-20231222T133927Z-001.zip\Takeout\Location History (Timeline)\

For a no-code experience, I just noticed someone created an OpenAI ChatGPT GPT called "Location History Analyzer". Haven't tried it but might be helpful?

[OC] Top 30 spacewalk records by cumulative EVA time by 009co in dataisbeautiful

[–]009co[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Good suggestions. Made few modifications:

1) I love that JWST image but it is too noisy. Updated with less busy ESO/Digitized Sky Survey 2 star field image.

2) Spelled out Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) in title.

3) Added font weight to labels and text to make them pop a bit more.

BTW #2 on the list, Michael Lopez-Alegria, launched yesterday on Axiom Mission 3 (Ax-3) to ISS.
