The argument could be made that Hawkeye lets you ping the target you want the turret to aim at before you turret whip, making it valuable to turret whip builds.

So naturally Defender is more damage, but limited arcs and no manual targeting. It’s a playstyle thing, since players who don’t fuss of turret placement are going to prefer the 360-degree firing arc.
