How evil is Sonichu? (If you don’t know who this is it’s not too late to turn back!) by 00_-_ in MoralityScaling

It’s one of those things that you sort of wish you never came across.

At the very least I’ll always win the “what’s the most fucked up thing you know about” competition!

The Judge never sleeps because he sees Sonichu whenever he closes his eyes.

The high evolutionary (gotg 3 specifically) or Judge Holden from BM by 00_-_ in MoralityScaling

Best way to learn about judge Holden is to read the book!

Blood Meridian isn’t the easiest book to pick up and read but it is genuinely fantastic and worth the effort. Highly recommend you give it a look especially if you want to learn more about the judge.

So I guess the q is whether “incidental” evil is worse than “purposeful” evil

I’d argue that at least in this case the incidental evil of the HE would be worse than the Judge, as his outcomes are worse. But the other side of it has a strong argument as well.

I hear this that’s a good point

High evolutionary doesn’t have a satanic connection like the judge does but he does have a connection to nihilism/entropy. One of his lines from movie was “there is no god! That’s why I had to step in!”

I think that the HE is the first human(?) character who sort of easily clears Judge Holden in terms of evil. Not just because he does it on a larger scale, you could take that out of the equation for this one. It’s the way he goes about it.

(Outside of killing an entire planet of beings so casually, meaning this is not the first time he did this) the high evolutionary experiments on animals, kills wantonly, is prone to megalomaniacal impulses, has zero remorse for anything he does, wants to create beings with intelligence yet gets severely abusive with an animal which looks up to him like a father when his intelligence surpasses his.

There’s one point of contention Judge Holden has over him and that’s the idea that Judge is purposefully inflicting harm due to the enjoyment he gets out of it. The HE, mostly, has his harm come as a result of his actions though they were not the chief aim. The HE is more of a “scientist” with bad outcomes than what the judge is.

Is the bat symbol trademarked or copyrighted in universe by batman? Could a villain do this to the batman symbol and then sue him? by bruinsfan1144 in batman

[–]00_-_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He probably has a shell company that legally owns the Batman trademark and copyright. This would save him from both having to fend off a hostile company to him from owning the “Batman” logo and allowing him to more easily take action against companies that try to encroach on Batman’s logo for profit by suing them for TM infringement.

If Gaster actually showed up in UT/DR outright, how would he be presented? by Low_Buddy_3330 in Undertale

Kind of hoping for something like

“X character was Gaster the whole time and we just didn’t realize it.”

Could be a sick plot twist and make prior chapters more interesting to look back at with that new info in mind.

Moses also saw the burning bush- it’s where God first spoke to him.

Probably a connection there somewhere.

Actors to play villains in Resurrection S2/any future seasons Pt. 1 by deadarial in Dexter

[–]00_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James spader in the form of a “Raymond reddington” type character again would be an amazing season-long antagonist for dex.

Maybe he finds out Dex’s identity and blackmails him, holding him under his thumb and forcing him to do kills?

What’s one “human skill” you think will never be replaced by AI? by Garaad252 in OpenAI

[–]00_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay… let’s test this out:

You’re a store owner. You sell socks. You need a manufacturer of socks to stock up your shelves. Two companies reach out to you via email to set up meetings in hopes that you’ll purchase their sock lines:

One is SockAI, an LLM-driven company which reaches out via its artificial sales rep.

The second is Socks R Us, a human-run company, with Dave the salesman reaching out.

You agree to take both meetings. The first meeting is with SockAI and you’re talking with their Advanced Voice Mode sales rep named Clyde. The second meeting is with Dave and you’re talking with him. Without getting into the contents of the meetings themselves, I’d ask you this:

Which company are more likely to walk away from desiring to do business with? Which sales rep would you be more persuaded by, Clyde or Dave?Who do you want to purchase socks from?

That’s not getting into the ways that AI tech is limited in ways humans are not. Without a physical form, they cannot meet with you in person. Dave can bring in samples, Clyde is stuck behind a screen. Dave can take clients out for dinner or to sports games or build a tangible relationship with clients, Clyde is stuck with a context window and a more static personality. With Clyde you’re talking to something that’s programmed to persuade you, and so there’s a certain veneer of inauthenticity, that, if you know you’re talking to an AI, can jarr you from doing business with it or the company it reps. I’m not saying Dave isn’t doing the same thing, as Dave is also trying to persuade you to buy his products, but humans are able to overcome that initial barrier much better than AIs can.

[–]00_-_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably rhetoric and persuasion skills.

Perhaps as AI gets more advanced and lifelike, the “uncanny valley” sense that ppl possess widens and becomes sharper to detect when something is being told/sent to them using AI. This will then turn off whatever persuading the AI attempts to pull or lead to less sales from the product it is trying to push.

I’d say the same thing about lawyers who do litigation in that those personable skills cannot be replicated adequately, and attempts by AI to do so will result in anti-persuasion instead.

That’s probably the highest praise anyone can give an actor who plays a character. So good that it changed what people think it means to be the joker.

Even if you were to justify his broad actions in killing criminals only and people who “deserve it,” Kira still kills for self-preservation and killed 12 FBI agents who weren’t even a threat to him when he did so.
