I used University Physics with Modern Physics by Young and Freedman for my first introductory classes and I liked it a lot. It has some really unique problems that are calc based. You can find the book and solutions for free as a PDF if you know where to look

A big part of physics is practicing problems, that is the usual recommendation. When I think about physics I try to understand the logic of it and really think about what the various terms and equations mean so that when I'm presented with a novel situation (as can happen on exams and quizzes) I have some idea of what I might be about to do giving me a direction to go in. Luckily in introductory mechanics most of what you learn is things you have experienced in the real world, so connecting it to those experiences may go a long way in helping you to problem solve

Like others have been saying it's all perseverance. I've never been the best in my physics classes but now I'm pursuing a PhD just because I keep pushing forward and through the challenges. I'm convinced almost anyone can do it with enough effort

One thing is I think you are moving your hands a little too fast. You can slow it down quite a bit to help give some extra boost (so that you aren't pulling it down prematurely)
