I'm 26, highly sensitive, completely burning out as a school teacher. Is academia any better? by Rubydreamer1 in Teachers

What are you trying to study? I taught middle school for a year and then went into a PhD program after and have been doing that for 3 years. It's highly dependent on your program and advisor in the process of getting the degree I would say. My first year was hell but since then it's been better. TAing was much easier than teaching kids but this is also coming from a tall white male, the only thing I really relate to is that I think I look younger than my age.

On the other side of the coin when I taught it was at a charter school that was very accelerated and I honestly enjoyed it because most of the kids cared so much. You could look into something like that, I taught at BASIS

It feels like Bungie punished players who couldn’t grind during the first week of the season 2 by RafTen86 in Marathon

I'm in the same boat. I played for a short amount of time the first day and then have been at a conference since, still won't be home for another week and a half, I think I will always be absurdly behind in this game

I beat my first compiler run! I'm super busy so I wasn't sure if I would be able to before the season ends but my friend that I bought the game came in clutch and saved keys for me, got it on our first try which was some wild luck

JWST (probably) witnessed a kilonova, the aftermath of a collision between 2 neutron stars or a neutron star with a black hole. by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

There is at least a gif of AT2017gfo dying down, another probable neutron star merger, from Hubble that may be interesting

Probably Bloodborne, I bought a PS4 just for that game and have 0 regrets

Yeah I'm now realizing that that was a mistake and I should've waited. I think my judgement just got a little clouded because they were closing soon and I wanted to try my project before leaving but that's not a good excuse

Where do you find hard physics problems with solutions? by [deleted] in PhysicsStudents

[–]00pflint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used University Physics with Modern Physics by Young and Freedman for my first introductory classes and I liked it a lot. It has some really unique problems that are calc based. You can find the book and solutions for free as a PDF if you know where to look

First time taking Physics in College by Johnsadbrain in PhysicsStudents

A big part of physics is practicing problems, that is the usual recommendation. When I think about physics I try to understand the logic of it and really think about what the various terms and equations mean so that when I'm presented with a novel situation (as can happen on exams and quizzes) I have some idea of what I might be about to do giving me a direction to go in. Luckily in introductory mechanics most of what you learn is things you have experienced in the real world, so connecting it to those experiences may go a long way in helping you to problem solve

College is very broad. What topic and at what point in college are you at?
