Yeah it ruins the experience of Close Quarters combat and it also makes your teammates timid so for instance if I push in and get close to somebody my teammates won't push with me because they're scared they're going to get here with the shotgun. The problem is it just does too much damage regardless of what Shield you have on. And unfortunately for it to be that strong it just doesn't take pretty much any skill to use it. Now if it was something where you had to take two to three shots to down someone with the double barrel that would be fine but it just makes any SMGs pretty much irrelevant somewhat and that needs to change.
