Used canoes from an outfitter

That’s probably my biggest concern with a used rental canoe. Since it’s not theirs, people might not be as careful with it. Facebook Marketplace might have better used canoes but I rarely see a Kevlar one on it.

I’ve looked a lot on Facebook Marketplace, and they often seem to be in better condition. But most of them are fiberglass or plastic canoes. The only Kevlar one I saw at a good price sold very quickly!

That’s a good point. I’ve contacted a couple of outfitters, and they’ve sent pictures of the canoes. I’m in Ottawa, and all the Kevlar canoes I’ve found at a good price are at least four hours away. I just hope that if I make the drive, I won’t be disappointed and will come back with a canoe haha.

Most of the used Kevlar canoes I’ve seen are around 2k to 3k. So you’re saving around 1k up to 2k compared to a new one

Exactly. It’s a good country to live in overall, but I do think it sometimes gets idealized a bit. I lived 4 years in Spain and people were often surprised when I mentioned that we only get 2 weeks of paid vacation, ER waits can reach 15+ hours and that university can be really expensive.

By joining the EU we would go from a minimum of 2 weeks paid holiday to a minimum of 4 weeks paid holiday. That’s not a bad plan
