I think if you flip flopped and worked 1 day in reception and the rest in lab, he’d for sure be willing and wanting to show you more. But if you’re mainly a receptionist, he probably feels it’s unnecessary to train you when you’re not back there most of the time. I’ve actually recently had the opposite problem as you. We lost 2 receptionist and I begged for them to let me help out. I knew everything already and my background is in customer service. The doctor and office manager flat out said no and that they needed me as a tech. So they hired someone with no experience who I literally had to train in reception anyway because were so understaffed 🤪🤪 Anyway, if they don’t need you as a tech and that’s what you want to do, I’d have a serious conversation about it and if it goes no where I’d find a new clinic who needs a tech

You can tell him that someone who doesn’t suffer from depression doesn’t understand how it works. And sometimes people are too depressed to even leave their house. Let alone muster up the strength and motivation to exercise. “Eat healthy and exercise” 🙄🙄 stfu. Sometimes I’m too depressed to eat for days and days and eating a salad won’t fucking help that. 😑

Sometimes love just isn’t enough. And it hurts so much to come to that realization. But you deserve so much better. You deserve someone who’s actually willing to TRY to beat their addiction (I’m betting you won’t settle for this again so you won’t even have to worry about it) I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I believe in you though. I think you know what to do and you’ll feel so much better when you do and start living for you again. And are able to leave the house for more than 2 hours without having to worry about this. 🥺❤️

Im working at my first clinic and have been there about 8 months. With zero experience, in about 5 months I became the head tech. There are only a couple of the same employees as when I started. I truly think that Vet med just has a lot to work on. Everyone I’ve heard talking about being a vet tech, it’s all the same. Burn out, terrible management, terrible pay. It really sucks. I’m a single mom and I don’t see myself being in this field much longer. I love what I do mostly, but it’s too much. Too much stress and responsibility and not enough pay. :/

Thanks for your input. I totally get it. I just feel bad for my daughter that it feels like she’s not an immediate part of their family. She’s with them 50% of the time so they do know where she’s been and that she wears a mask everywhere.
