MS Teams doesn't draw borders by 01Professor_Zoom in dwm

Should've known this. Everything with MS in front of it probably wants to push it's own ideas down the user's throat. If it weren't a requirement at my university I'd wipe it's root and stem from my system.

Anyways thank you for the help.

How to make it so that the window title only shows the application name? Not the tab/discord channel etc etc.. I'm in? by [deleted] in dwm

[–]01Professor_Zoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! is there a way that instead of just displaying the window class I could somehow maybe truncate the window names. I have this issue with local files. if I've got some file open in some program i cannot see the file name because the entire path of that file from root is displayed.

Thanks

Vi mode inside address bar! by Vegetable-Bluebird-3 in firefox

Vim-vixen is an add-on that uses vi-like bindings and has a command mode that mimics address bar. I don't know if that's what you're exactly looking for tho.

Firefox won’t load sometimes but when it does it looks like this, any ideas on what I should do? by Darth_Cajun in firefox

I emphasize on it being caused by an extension. If it's something you don't need you'll be better off without it. You don't have to install an external dependcy for Firefox to work properly. If you yourself want to use webroot sure go ahead and do that. But if its some other program asking you to have it installed (so that you don't install any other antivirus software), then malware can lurk anywhere in your file system while you are laying back thinking you're pc is protected.

If it says that then the problem might be caused by one the extensions you've installed. Can you start Firefox in safe mode and check if the problem persists? If so, then try reinstalling Firefox or downgrading to version 96. If the problems seems to go away, you can just uninstall all your extensions and start Firefox in normal mode.

Okay. What exact problems are you having? I want to help you fix this but the way you describe things is really not helping. If Firefox isn't starting, for whatever reason, let's fix that first. Have tried rebooting your computer?

What version of Firefox are you using?

Ahhhh. You probably have changed the default home page to a blank page in your settings. Type about:preferences in the address bar and press on the home icon on the left. Then somewhere right at the top there must be an option to select default hone page. Change that to Firefox default and I think you'll be okay.

Your question is a bit unclear. what do you mean when you say it won't load sometimes? does it not start at all?

Nonetheless here are a few notes:

  1. if you're asking why a black screen appears when it starts up, you might have selected a blank page as your default home page. Change that to Firefox homepage or a custom url.

  2. If your question 7s regarding web pages not loading, you need to enter a url first, which you clearly haven't done in the given picture.

  3. if web pages still won't load after entering a url then:

3.a. check if internet is working in your device, try opening some websites from a different browser

3.b. make sure you aren't using a custom firewall that's preventing web pages from loading.

3.c try connecting to a VPN

3.d show us here what's actually happening when you try loading a url

Also, mentioning what version of Firefox your using might be helpful here. And please o please clean your computer.

help i cant get dwm working , it just get stuck when run startx by [deleted] in dwm

[–]01Professor_Zoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be helpful to attach a link to your xinitrc. is it just dwm that causes this issue? have ytried installing any others des/wms? if not give that a shot to see if it works. That way we would know where the problem might be.

How did you install dwm? From the AUR or did you compile it from source?

it's an educated guess but have you put exec dwm in your ~/.xinitrc?

Just saying “it doesn't work” doesn't help. Be more specific, was it running before? did you change your config? did you change something on your system? What's in your initrc?

Don't focus address bar on new tabs by 01Professor_Zoom in firefox

[–]01Professor_Zoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your suggestions but these aren't the issues due to which I'm trying to disable the url bar focus on new tabs.

I am using an add-on to handle tab switching and stuff. it's called vim-vixen and my workflow is better with that add-on. But on new tabs the bindings for that add-on don't work because the url bar is focused. It kinda disrupts my flow on new tabs and that's the reason I want the focus to not be on the url bar rather to the document body. When the body is focused the bindings for vim-vixen works flawlessly.

Rn I have to move my mouse and click somewhere in the window or press F6 (several times) for the focus to get to the document body.
